I have never seen this nor the Live in Las Vegas. They don't seem all too appealing to me.

the vegas DVD at least has some good, spontaneous performances and "feels" like a concert, even though they leave chunks of the actual show out of the recording (why???).

Omg i love this concert
I can understand people complaining about the editing, but i think Prince`s performance outweighs the poor editing
I love it, love it, love it lol

It probably would have been great if it was a real concert, but since it was more or less staged over the course of hours in a small venue, it lacks the energy of a real concert. Live in Las Vegas lacks hits. Why doesn't Prince have a proper live DVD?

I think Rave picks up around Gett Off or Lenny (whichever comes first) and by the end it's pretty hot, though.

But most of it looks bad because of the videotape, it's badly edited, and it feels sterile.

Best concert I've ever seen. He does the best version of Kiss that I've seen or heard and add that to She's Always In My Hair, Nothing Compares 2 U, Gett Off.....It's amazing.

I could live without the Lenny Kravitz songs but the show will take some beating.

I wish I could get it onto my iPod from the DVD though

You just need an input on your computer, the right cable, and some kind of wave recorder program--I have one that came with my Soundblaster sound card.

Then you record it onto your computer and put it in Itunes.

I did this with Vegas & a Bruce dvd.

The DVD has been re-released in the UK (he is billed as Prince now, not prince) for the bargain price of £4.99:

I also think this dvd is crap save for a few songs. Anyone who likes this dvd that much must have really low standards for Prince releases or haven't seen the good stuff from the 80's.

I have seen all the tours since the Parade tour in 86 and yes, I LOVE the Rave DVD and I do not have low standards. It's just you who is stupidly prejudiced.

It is under-rated. A nice DVD I think.

Shame the crowd isn't full of real fans though. The audience are a bit quiet for my liking.

But anything with 'She's Always In My Hair' on it gets the thumbs up from me.

Peace

it's too choppy, there's too much artsy fartsy editing crap going on, i don't like the sound of the band, it FEELS like the pre-recorded program it is, rather than giving the illusion of an actual concert, and i feel like my attention span has been pillaged by the time it's over.

i bought a chinese knock-off version of it for five bucks online. to be fair, i'd say it's worth at least half that price. nod

Yeah, it wasn't a real concert -- it was a Paisley Park production. But, c'mon, it's worth at least $7.50.

No. One is prejudiced when one says that people who like the rave dvd have low standards. Don't act like if you had not understood.

perhaps when english is not your first language, you need to have more patience and understanding when your syntax isn't easily interpreted.

just saying.

I think it is embarrassing to watch, I am sorry folks. Don't like the band, don't like the stage setting, and the vibe of the crowd. Prince looks like a washed up former superstar performing for his last few fans. Yuk!

I'm all for different strokes and all, but I just don't get how anyone doesn't cringe when they see this show, especially if they have seen any/all of his other shows. If I was Prince, I'd want to buy them all up and bury them in a very deep whole. I must be missing something I guess.

The man had to cash in on the whole 1999/Y2K thing somehow. I think that's the Rave DVD in a nutshell. A big, prerecorded organized party at Paisley Park.

By the way, how many languages do you speak fluently ? Just curious. lol

so far in this thread i've been asked if i can make better concert videos than prince and if i'm bilingual. should we just change the topic of this thread to a discussion of my various capabilities? lol

there's no shame in releasing a subpar video and there's no shame in communicating in shaky english.

however, to quote the great judge judy, "don't pee on my leg and tell me it's raining."

and no, i can't control precipitation, either. lol
