yeah its over at HQ too...first time I've seen it. Great show. The pace is a little frantic for the first half but it's still one hell of a show.

You can buy the Videos from Ebay or the Z-Shop Sellers on Amazon - Seriously worth the cash.

I got Lovesexy 1 & 2 Videos both sealed - you can buy them for a Gazillion Dollars ..... lol

I have watched both Videos a million times over and never get bored, I even went as far as ripping the sound and burning it to CD so I could listen to it in my car !! Saddo..... lol

I lived in France when the Lovesexy Tour happened. A few months later, they showed the concert on television, where he performed in Germany. The only problem was that the second half of the show was shown first! Anyway, the video for the concert came out and I bought it over there and lo and behold, that's the way the concert video was done, too. Having seen the show in person, it was a bit disconcerting because the first half was about the raunchy, sexy and profane, the second half was supposed to be about enlightenment, redemption, love.

I still have the video. However, because I bought it in France I can only watch it on my French television with my French VCR. I have to set up the power converters and connectors whenever I want to watch it, which is a real hassle. I tried to get the video reformatted for use in the USA, but the cost was over $75, so I haven't pursued it.

I did do like a previous poster and recorded the music to a cassette tape. Guess I should get that onto a CD soon. Anyway, I love that concert!

GREAT show, of course.

i heard the reason they mixed up the order of the videos (i.e. first half of the concert was called part 2) was because all the big hits - 1999, kiss, let's go crazy, etc. - were in the second half of the show.

the video distributors reasoned that the casual prince fan might only want to buy the 'greatest hits' video. and they further reasoned that if the 'greatest hits' video were named 'part 2' then the casual fan wouldn't even buy that because it would feel weird to buy 'part 2' without buying the first part.

does that make sense?!

I love this thread - It is cool to see how excited people get over this concert !! Amazing that this show was like 18 years ago and yet still enthuses people in a big way.

The whole show is like a non stop rollercoaster of Music and fun, from start to finish. I love the Piano Medley and the horse play in Lets Go Crazy and the show hosts one of my favourite live versions of Purple Rain.

If anything, I would love to see this one concert remastered on to DVD format with 5:1 sound etc, That would be the ultimate !!!!! lol

cool

I don't think it's as good as the Sign O The Times show, due to too many quick cuts, but it was still a genius at the top of his game. Hard to believe this same artist released 3121.

Would love to see this get a proper dvd release.
No hard feelings.

The thing with the SOTT show is that it appears too 'pre-fabricated' as it actually was - There is no true 'live' feel to it (my own opinion). Which is why Lovesexy beats it hands down. IF SOTT was shot entirely live without all the added in bits etc then I am sure it would have been a much more enjoyable experience.

I see your point but I mean the Sign o The Times tour in general, not just the concert film. I enjoy a proper play of a song as opposed to the first half of Lovesexy concerts which was nearly one long medley. I still think it's brilliant and was done to perfection, I'd just rather have heard a grouping of 10 or so 'Camille' inspired or 'dirty' tracks than the sometimes frustration of hearing a song get cut just as its really picking up steam and energy.
No hard feelings.

Liberace on acid?

Thats a description that some critic gave about the Lovesexy show. He might be right. Alltough the Lovesexy show offered a lot of energy, stageplay and intricate musical arrangements, it was too thought out for me, too kitchy theatrical, and most important, Prince spoiled the power of his individual songs by putting them in medleys.

For me, the Parade and especially Sign of the Times tour were much more rewarding.

My Bad - I thought you was referring to the Video !!!

I love the SOTT Video - apart from the prefab nonsense which really spoils it in my opinion. There is nothing more exciting than the opening Guitar to the show !! and the beautiful tones of the Guitar in ICNTTPOYM ..... WOW.....I actually have a couple of SOTT concerts on MP3 - Havent had chance to listen yet, but looking forward to them. I do have Lovesexy at the Sendai Stadium and compared to the Video the concert was not as 'fantastic' - perhaps though this is because of a lack of visual involvement too ?

gawd, don't be so plebian. It's Jean-Paul Gautier.

IMO, that LoveSexy concert is Prince at his very peak giving one of his best Live performances ever, it's the best Prince concert registration you'll ever see, he takes you on a trip, a roller coaster ride with lots of energy, emotion and humor and he looks like a young God, a Mozart and a freak in some of his outfits ... I truly love that show, it has so many highlights, I still watch the 2-DVD version regularly.

I really love this show, but the copy I have isn't the best quality and it makes my eyes cross at certain points. Still, the energy is fantastic and the creativity is awesome. Just a total experience.

I had heard that on Anna Stesia he was supposed to do a wicked guitar solo, but there was some technical problem. Sure looked like it 'cause he just looks frustrated and kinda lost toward the end of that. But, knowing how much of a perfectionist he is, I'm surprised that he didn't dub in a clip from another night or something.

Anyone know the real story on this?

Brillant!

I have to say, I came onboard as a fan after this time period. I had always heard the effusive praise for this tour among fans and wondered:"Was it really THAT good?"

Yes... Yes it was. wink
