What about Jesse's recognition...

I think Jesse Johnson deserves a lot of recognition when you talk about the famous "Minneapolis Sound". Tremendous guitarrist, great singin', the great Shockadelica album, cool in every way. Props to Jesse people...

Jessie's Ultimate Collection CD is great. It's nice to have all his great songs on one cd, especially "Free World".
His first record was hard-core "Mpls Sound" all the way. But with each record he put out, you could see growth in his music. Which, sad to say, is a rare thing with a lot of so-called "artists".

Yeah I've always thought like many great Black Guitar Players Jesse, Ernie Isley, Eddie Hazel are some of the best 2 play... but never get the props they earned 4 there craft. But they seemed 2 get over looked when people talk about great players. (Sad) But they always get much respect from me.

I've enjoyed each Jesse album for the tight sounds. But most of all 4 Jesse's own burning guitar playin stamp he gave on the trax. That 2 me held 2gether the song as its foundation. 2 me Jesse wanted 2 B looked at as a serious G-player first B4 anything. The passion in his playin was always easy 4 me 2 feel.

Jesse is someone who should B around today in a bigger way...I was just playin his best of collection & diggin it as always ...A must have if your in2 the guitar & funky sounds. Some of the songs are really good, showing that Jesse indeed had something much 2 offer.

I agree Jesse doesn't get enough recognition. If I passed him on the street I bet I wouldn't recognize him.

Great album. So much different than his others. Feelin' Jimi.
If prince.org were to be made idiot proof, someone would just invent a better idiot.

Jesse is a Badd-Ass but came along at the wrong time.instead of Being Seen as the Cat that had Madd Chops He got Lumped as a "Purple Clone"&it's a weak tag.I have all of His Albums plus Live stuff,etc..&Protege stuff He did on others.this Cat was Everything that Lenny Kravitz,Tracy Chapman,Hottie&The BlowFish,Blessed Unions of Soul, among others try still to be.the Cat is Baddd on Guitar,Bass,Keys&Can program Jams if He wants.but Killed off by Association.also Jesse didn't Kiss No Ass.

Jesse is awesome, but my all-time favorite unrecognized guitar player is Ernie Isley. If you get the chance, check out his solo cd High Wire, absolutely mind blowing stuff on it.
