hey, i just downloaded a song called "69 positions" from KaZaA. it's attributed to prince, but i'm not quite sure it's a genuine p recording.

there's some strange vocal production which are being employed perhaps to mask the fact that it's not actually prince. to me it sounds like the song could be a homage, a pretty good attempt at a typical solid horny prince track.

does anybody know anything about the track? i don't even like it much, but this could be because i can't relax into it until i know if it's genuinely p or not..

I recently started a thread about this song, and I never really got any solid answers about this song and others that came up. I really don't think it's Prince though, as I once thought.

I don't know who that is but that ain't Prince. It is someone trying to sound like him. But on some parts the vibrato gives it away.

prince - Mr Feelgood will b ur path

A friend of mine lent me a copy of those Mr. Feelgood songs, and while some of the songs are okay, most of them are crap. Especially songs like "Big Booty".

But then again, that's just my opinion.

thanks for responding, it's an interesting topic. there's something about "69 positions" i don't like at all. (which does not rule out its being by prince, there's plenty of prince songs i don't like... it's just that this song i find unlikeable in a different way from normal, which is what makes me so suspicious of it..)

now, broadening the topic- is there a slew of "prince soundalike" music out there? shadowy artists faking the stuff for fun/in homage/trying to pass themselves off as our man? i had no idea!! the mind boggles!

Actually I mailed that guy at the MP3.com and asked him what does he think of his tracks circulating as fake outtakes but he never answered back. Double the bastard.
