Why has Prince abandoned "I KNOW?"

In the last few years, Prince has put a lot of emphasis on "THE FUNK" in his music and live shows. Surprisingly, why has he abandoned the song "I Know" from LOVESEXY? He could OBLITERATE that song live....thoughts..

There are lots of songs which Prince basically played because they featured on the most recent album release which was the focus of that tour and subsequently they were dropped.

He played '1+1+1=3' on the ONA tour but dropped it for the 2004ever tour, just as he dropped 'Eye No' after the Lovesexy tour. Likewise, 'Mountains' (Parade), 'Its Gonna Be A Beautiful Night' SoTT), Billy Jack Bitch' (Gold Experience) and others.

Thats true...but I wish Prince would do a "rarities" tour so that you can hear the rare songs live..like "When We're Dancing Close and Slow", "I Know", "Sweet Baby", etc

I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I don't think "I No" goes that well with his most recent religious beliefs. Even the opening line, "I know there is a heaven, I know there is a hell", is something the JWs really do not emphasize the same way as regular Christian churches do.

I just checked out www.coldspring.co.uk

Man, there's some fucked up stuff on there. I dig the dark ambient stuff...struggling a bit more with the full-on Industrial noise. eek

Anyway, yeah, i agree with your post.

Also: Jehovah's Witnesses do not believe in Heaven and Hell as places that currently exist separately from Earth. As far as I know, they believe that when Jesus Christ returns, those who were 'saved' will be lifted up, and those who were not will remain on Earth to suffer. In other words, Earth will become hell. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is probably part of the reason he no longer performs "Eye No."

Actually, JWs believe in heaven as a place where spirit creatures dwell (like Jah, and Christ Jesus).
JWs believe in the bible's description of Hell, Hades or Sheol; that it is simply the grave.

Technically, Prince could sing the line "I know there is a heaven and a hell" without compromising his current beliefs. The only difference is that he no longer sees Hell as a place of suffering, but as the common grave of mankind, where the dead are asleep and conscious of nothing.
I personally don't know why he doesn't play it. Perhaps he is concerned for his views on such a powerful theological subject being potentially misconstrued?

because he wasn't strong enough to hang on, and was thrown into doubt, that lead to confusion, that lead to JWs.
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.
