I was just wondering about this.
I know it spiked right away on Amazon, but I haven't heard anything about the general chart results.

HITS Daily Double has already started tabulating, but I don't see Prince's entry yet... Ooh, little darlin' if you're
free 4 a couple of hours (Free 4 a couple of hours) If U ain't busy 4 the next 7 years (Next 7 years) Say, let's pretend we're married and go all night

I seen it with the first 3% but it disappeared after. I think the album will see a boost but nothing extraordinary.

51% of the total and no 3121, I wonder if the Amazon numbers are in there yet. It seems strange that the album would get up to 16 on Amazon and not edge higher unless it just didn't do anything at retail. Early in the chart run 3121, it was low on the chart until the last minute and then would rocket up with like 78% of the sales in. Maybe that'll happen again.
If Kenny Rogers and Barry Manillow can have their albums rocket up due to AI performance, why the hell wouldn't Prince. 43 million people watched the damn thing so somebody had to go out and buy it. [Edited 5/30/06 13:56pm] All good things they say never last...

It would've really benefited him to have the album on Itunes. That's how a lot of people buy their music now.

[Edited 5/30/06 13:56pm] Prince only appeared on a very good spot. While that should count for something, he didn't have his songs performed over 1 or two hours and he didn't coach or judge. Perhaps the spikes only happen for those who commit more to the show.

Well the top 50 numbers final tally is on Hits..... and no Prince
The 50th entry has like 20,000 sold, so the AI performance didn't do much. The Billboard numbers are in tomorrow so we'll see how he did.

I think folks are missing the point of Prince's showing on AI....The gig is not going to translate into 150, 000 in sales on SoundScan...That's just not going to happen because Prince didn't build the entire show around his music...What it does, however, is gives 3121 a new launching pad for a tour and a new single...I believe capitalizing on cranking out a video for "Lolita" is imperative if the midget wants a significant sales boost...The AI appearance did the job: it gave him hella buzz in Middle America and not to mention around the national water cooler...Now it's up to Prince to follow up on the buzz...And that also means making the album available on Itunes....but that's another story.... I just looked at Billboard and he is completely out of the top 100, which must mean that he will be the only AI artist not to see any rise in his numbers. It should help his tour though..lol All you others say Hell Yea!!

Billboard hasn't updated their charts yet so we'll see new numbers online on Thursday. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I wonder it could also be the timing of the Idol finale. That would have been on Wednesday night which means that sales wouldn't have kicked in Tuntil hursday. Does the spike in sales for AI come directly after or the week after? All good things they say never last...

im going w/ murph and aerogram on this one....besides, marketing campaigns need momentum..prince's sporadic public appearances need to be closer together for 3121 to benefit...but he is doing a good job of securing his legacy. Space for sale...
