PRINCE 24hrs MARATHON! Talking about crazy things Prince has made me to do...
One sunday morning (almost three years ago) I woke up and had nothing to do. So i decided that ill have Prince marathon! I had been thinking about doing it for a while. I had just bought me new amp so timing was good. So, I just sat down to my nice soft chair, loudspeakers on front-right and front-left, and started to listen to Prince. Chronologically ,from For You to Rave. All the official releases, (except Crystal Ball which I dont own). It took about 22 hours. So after that i watched Lovesexy and SignOTheTimes videos. Altogeter, it took 24hours. And it was all concentrated listening. No reading, no watching tv. I just sat and listened. I had few half an hour breaks for eating and stretching , and some toilet breaks naturally. It was good! Good! GOOD! Not tiring, not boring. Every single cd felt refreshing and good. I didnt have any thought like "oh no not another prince cd - still ten to go" i was more like "yihaa - another prince cd! i want more". I must say that the most negative thing was to clearly notice the difference in quality between early stuff and batman/graffiti bridge/some 90's stuff. But, then again, Emancipation felt really good, even it hadnt been my favourite bfore that. it surely has been ever since. So, anyone had similar experiences??? Hey that sounds like fun. Maybe I'll try it one day. I probably couldn't get past the first three cds before people start to go crazy around here. Some people don't appreciate great music. They think J.Lo is a great entertainer.

I can also agree that good music never bores ,how many times you may listen to it.
5 times i recall making prince compilations which for the owner are very unique. Evening and nights i have spend on them. Over and over listening how songs match or not. Making a theme and watch the flow. Not trespassing any timelimits to put as many beautiful prince outtakes on a 100 minutes tape. Listening to the words and sounds very carefully. Prince is not loved throughout and i want to be a good representative of his music. In the meanwhile i listen prince all the time and one gets to hear more. I listen a lot. So i certainly know and knew i am not the only one doing this. It's a great hobby.

Could there be a scientific "Prince Effect" like the "Mozart Effect?"

prinssi I did something like this about 4 years ago. I had to drive from Texas to NJ and decided to get all the CDs in order and start from disk 1.
I had my kids in the car and we listened to nothing but Prince for three days straight. I was as you said refreshing. The kids really enjoyed it and now they are into Prince too. It's so interesting to see the evolution of his music in a chronological order. I don't know If I'd listen for 24 hours straight, but for those hours in the car driving it was good to know that I had something good to listen too and not have to rely on radio stations. I've also sat down and watched all of the Prince Videos I own in one sitting. PR and UTCM are my all time faves, and most of them only have good music, because the dialog is not there, but still a lot of fun. Good listening/watching yall. peace **************************************************

For me it wasn't only fun, true. I do/did suffer too. I do live the music and lyrics emotionaly with. Well I was during MONTHS the whole day incl. outthere, then I took my walkman with and big part of the nights listening 99% to Prince's music, sometimes paralell surfing on ciberspace at prince.org (ca.75%) and other music-sites. Yes. But it's me, you know... I love music! I have always my walkman (now a radio) with. I prefer that noise then the cars and etc. Now more then ever.
