I don't like to RATE albums. I just CAN'T. But "The Rainbow Children" is pretty good. Even now, months after it was released, I'm still freaking out at the thing now and then. Can understand why some people don't feel it that close due to the message on it, but come on, just take the music if that's your problem!. The album is a truly beautiful masterpiece. Wouldn't say it's in the same league as Prince's classic albums (Purple Rain, SOTT, Lovesexy, etc...) as some people did, but I just surrender anyway at the magic of the thing. Yeah, "The Rainbow Children" is one of his best albums and the good thing is that there's no hype on that. | |

I still need more time to pass before I can really see how it sits among the rest of P's albums.
I love TRC & found it a musically refreshing album for P (unlike NPS) but I don't find myself listening to it too often. But it's safe to say that it's not going to change my choices for the top 3 P albums (Sign, 1999, & Symbol). | |
