Actually,it's the opposite. They aritifically darkened Prince's skin tone wit tanning makeup for his self-titled album. With this logic, Warner Brothrs believed that Prince would be more marketable to a black audience.

So do I. Saw it 3 TIMES in the theatre when it first came out. One of the first threads I ran on here when I first joined was how similar this movie is to Purple Rain. Berkley, who I have had a serious jones for since "Saved By The Bell", is basically a female Prince circa 84 in this movie. I've always thought that this movie was heavily influenced by PR. Her character was biting off of P's character in PR just like P has biten off of Tim Curry in Rocky Horror.

For me, the way he displays his femininity inside (the degree to which he is - and proclaims to be - a sensual being) & out (clothes, makeup, hair, overall manner at times) is part of the whole "I adore women" package

But it's a fine line that he's mastered (can't think of anyone else that pulls this off or could pull it off so well) - his willingness to unapologetically indulge that side of himself is appealing to me as a woman. But it's also mixed in w/ aggressiveness, occasional pimp talk, spirituality, etc. which all hold some degree of appeal as well.

But back to the outer, beautiful things are alluring. He's not afraid to BE beautiful/delicate/soft, which in a way says to me that he can see & appreciate those qualities in women & not strictly in the "I wanna fuck you" sense.

Now maybe I'm making all this up Maybe the whole makeup thing for him was an offshoot of wearing heels to be taller, the hair just a 70's Minneapolis thing that he never shook... the bitch just likes silk & satin, who knows But it works on me

And if he doesn't truly adore women on some level (define "adore", lol) he's got me fooled
