Were these full length rerecordings that were edited down to one song? If so, have any been made available? I really like some of the mixes. They're not necessarily better than the originals, but I'd love to check them out.

The purple Medley was based on a live medley plyed at shows.
Sometime the oficial P.M was played also.I dont think theres full versions for each part of songs.But Kirk J did "The B Side Remixes" and there are some official Full unreleased remixes out there...like when doves cry, Pop life...etc

Most if not all of the songs on the Purple Medley were re-done songs, with new vocals and music. If you listen carefully, you can hear the differences from the originals. I don't think anyone knows for sure whether all the songs featured were re-done full length or just the length on the medley, I tend to believe the latter, that Prince already knew the layout of the song and recorded it as if it were a completely new song.

I'm pretty sure it was recorded as a medley, rather than being a mix/edit of
re-recordings of his songs.
