well from the review over at npgmc i gather that it was
a lot of tamar and not enough prince for the reviewer.

prince songs he mentions are

fure
kiss
anotherloverholenyohead (he calls it a "guitar centered" version)
partyman
and as he says material from the "first half of 3121"

he's very positive about Tamar and says she put on an
amazing show, but as was to be expected with $300 price
for tickets, people wanted to see prince and going on
this 1 review so far, they got more tamar than prince.

I found a few mixed reviews at HQ:
http://www.housequake.com...genumber=1

posted by suprman on NPGMC:
I'm sorry. I was expecting more. Probably the worse Prince show I've ever been to. Expect the glowing reviews though. It was the worse Prince show and a very good Tamar show. Make that a great Tamar show.
Too similar to the show at the Fillmore for my taste but Tamar was so much better here than she was at the Fillmore. and I was impressed at the Fillmore. Here I was stunned and mesmerized. She can sing, work a stage, and command a room. I don't know if she relates to the material on a more personal level than she shows. but when she does material from here album, (Milk & Honey was a great performance) she sings with conviction versus covers which she can sing as her own but fails to deliver as much in an emotional vocal sense. She definitely has a bright future.
Prince - still a fan. He was great on guitar. Rocked 'Fury', which is great to hear live. I enjoyed the version of 'Kiss' he did tonight as well as a guitar centered 'Anotherloverholenyohead.'
For my money he didn't perform long enough, did not perform any of the better half of 3121, stuck to the first half of the album, and the show overall was not long enough.
I did like the arrangements of the songs he performed. Partyman was a nice surprise.
That's my personal response to the show.

and from Pupa1 at HQ:

I usually don't write in any forum, but this time i have too. I am rita from italy, me and lory have been to many concerts. We were at the concert yesterday, tim from england was there, raimond from holland was there, kim and her girlfriend from holland were there. I don't rememmber any single songs but he played a lot and very very well, and the other guys we have met from europe think the same. During soudcheck he played among others: elephant and flowers, don't play me, love 2 the 9's. During the regular show he played more songs than the one posted here, among the others: satisfied, joy in repetition, if i was you girlfriend, what have yuo done for me lately, how come you don't call me anymore. And yes tamar was there but prince too!!!!!
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

With the songs later mentioned on this thread, it does sound like a fun nite. Certainly not some legendary nite full of never heard before songs, but at least fun.

I'm not feeling like I missed anything. I just hope the total package was worth it for most of those who went.

the people who posted up until now might not know the "unheard" songs

well, we can hope

neutral

but "love 2 the 9s" and "anotherloverholenyohead" and "don't play me"
would have been worth it for me.

well, if i was wealthy enough to spree out on a ticket for that kinda
money and the journey there.

someone typed a lengthy report of the soundcheck somewhere
but didn't mention any songtitles at all, just closed that
review with saying "i will let someone else write down the
titles"

Finally something concrete. cool Not as many rare/Prince penned tunes as I maybe expected but he played one of my favorite Mary J. songs: "Be Happy" Love that jam. dancing jig

Interesting that Fury was played near the end when the rest of the 3121 songs were openers. And he's still closing with Purple Rain and LGC, I see.

I feel okay with not paying $312+ to see this one, especially since I've seen Tamar, and he played several of those covers during the ONA tour...but maybe I'm just trying to console myself...

Reports say the show was about 2 hours long. Half of it was Tamar and half the songs were covers.

Doesn't sound like great value to me.

The reviews so far are very underwhelming.

Best Prince concert i've ever been to!!!... worth the money... Heavy-guitar oriented... Awesome versions... Anotherloverholeinyohead made my mouth drop open and fall to the ground... never recovered after that... think of the heavy guitar version of witness and u no what i'm talking about.... Place was small... stage was low... i was in the front row center... played right in my face... held his guitar... shit!!!... He dug deep and was really feeling it... super-long guitar solos that made me go "Damnnnnn!". Quit fooling yourself... if you saw the concert even with all the Tamar... you'd be saying it was the best Prince concert you ever went to also... I'm a die hard P fan and it takes much for me to be impressed... He knocked me the F Out!... This was confirmed by some other Old-School P fans who agree... If u weren't there... quit crying and trying to make yourself feel better... U missed something very special... Meanwhile, I hope he releases Anotherloverholeinyohead as a download... SEE!!!... I still can't get over it... He nver played it like that before... EVER!!!!! Peace.
