i agree, it's mixed oddly. but it just puts that much more attention on the guitar solo, which is where the attention belongs nod

Electric Intercourse alone is better than Just my imagination. Prove me wrong. BTW, if Prince's best moment is a cover song it's While My guitar Gently Weeps at the hall of fame.Just my opinion. Don't get me wrong, Small club is amazing, but there have been many moments in Prince history that are arguably better-some of which I have seen 1st hand at Paisley Park. Maybe you have too?

Damn, stop arguing - fact is both concerts are lengendary, he was channeling something out of this world. Forget ONA, if those 2 concerts were released as a double cd it world be the most mindblowing live album ever, and the legend would be cemented for eternity for all to appreciate...

cool

It's certainly one of them. I can't think of a guitar solo by anyone that does more for me. 8-3-83 is one of his live high points too though.

Yeah, it really is breath-taking.

I'm not technical at all when it comes to things like this - but I loved the guitar sound Prince played around Lovesexy, like here, and on Pink Cashmere, and places on Lovesexy itself, really soaring and emotive.

I know exactly what you're talking about. Somewhere I read about a "guitar orchestrator" pedal or somesuch that he was getting into around that time. I'll see what I can dig up about it.

Great point...Prince has had various guitar sounds thru the years but 4 me his most awesome guitar sound was during the SIG/Lovesexy period.

it could be warm, fuzzy, sharp, atacking, loud, it was the definitive sound.. i was watching the new yrs eve show 1987 at paisley park and his lets go crazy, purple rain and u got the look are highwatermarks summing up what that sound means 2 me, as well as Just My Imagination.

"Redheaded Stepchild" in Houston a month ago was the most incredible guitar-playing I've ever heard. Up til then, though, it was "Just My Imagination".

I still remember it's not the better version of that cover, it's great because it's a sounboard recording, but I like more the 10/02/88 version(Roseland ballroom NYC). The sound is less good(audience recording), but the version is better IMO.

After reading the whole thread,I have few things 2 add :
I was also at the SOTT and Lovesexy shows in Paris.I believe he had played Positivity only in Paris at a regular show. After that song, he ended the show with Lovesexy and a medley including parts of Beautiful night,Springsteen's Born in the USA,amongst others. After the first show(07/08/1988) there was the first aftershow of the tour.He has played Just my imagination, but it was not that good, maybe because it was the first aftershow of the tour.I still remember the sound of the rented synths with awful preset sounds...
