Don't get me wrong he permed for years. But I suspect it did start taking out his hair. Once I saw him with that little 'fro back in 2003 or so in the tour book for One Nite Alone (Japan). I suspected he must have stopped perming.

its a perm...

stop trying to convince folks otherwise.

wink

I could say the same thing for you. I still say it's pressed. razz

I am convinced that the 'fro was a wig. it did not look real at all.
lately his hair (what is left of it anyways) has looked very frizzy. and that is an indicator (at least to me) that he is doing the ol' press 'n curl rather that using a chemical hair relaxer. On American Idol, I thought I was seeing the beginnings of a poofy comb-over type look. i was a little scared...i don't know why. I am one of the few fans who will admit that how Prince looks is important to me.

I think it's pressed also. And said so earlier in the thread. I don't think the 'fro was a wig though. Not that I'm saying he and I have the exact same grade of hair but when I went from perm to natural my hair looked like a wig also for a while also. shhh

Whatever he's doing, he needs a kickass hair stylist and a backup kickass hair staylist for when the first one is unavailable exclaim He's too fine to be runnin' round looking crazy. I did not like the hair on AI - that long piece in the front was just tragic disbelief
heart prince I never met you, but I LOVE you & I will forever!! Thank you for being YOU - my little Princey, the best to EVER do it prince heart

OK, I am totallly uneducated when it comes to this subject and I am not trying to upset or offend anyone, but could someone please explain to me the difference between perming and pressing and maybe post a pic to show me an example? Thanks. I'm lost right now... sad

Perming is a chemical straightening of the hair and is permanent. As new hair grows in the new growth must be chemically straightened to mix in with the already straightened hair. That's commonly called a "touch up".

Pressing is taking heat to straighten the hair and it's only temporary. How long it lasts depends upon the texture of the hair and humidity. If you wet straightened hair it reverts back to it's original curl or form.

Even though chemical straighteners are better than they used to be, there can be breakage over time because it's hard on the hair.

They don't look much different if done well, but pressed hair can quickly look fuzzy if you have coarse hair and you there's enough humidity in the air. Permed hair will tend to go limp in humidity.

This is in general and there's always an exception.

Pressing kinky/curly hair with a heated comb will temporarily straightened the hair. It will revert back to it's natural state once the hair is wet, sweated out or exposed to humidity.

Permed/Relaxed Hair is acheived by chemically straightening the hair.

IMO, there is no way that he's getting his hair pressed. That is way too old school and not very versatile.

I think he's getting his hair permed, but just not as straight as usual. Really, he's what they call texturizing. It's the preferred method when you want more fullness, as is the case when your hair is thinning.
Come here, babe.. yeah...

I thought about this the other day. If Prince is a vegetarian/ vegan he is doing it for health reasons. So more than likely he has stopped perming his hair because your scalp is one of the places on your body that the pours are really open. If you perm your hair, the chemicals from the perm go straight into the blood stream. That's why a lot of Black women do not perm their hair when they are pregnant. I think his hair has more to do with his health than style.

BUT HE SHOULD NOT BE AFRAID OF THE HOT COMB! CUZ HIS HAIR LOOKED A STONE COLD MESS ON AI! lol

I can tell by the length and by the thickness and bluntness of the ends in this picture. Prince has never worn his natural hair that long.

I've had my suspicions since I saw him on the Brit Awards. Man, something just doesn't look right.

Also, remember that Chris Rock interview on VH1 back when Emancipation came out. You could really see how much his hair was thinning....even looked downright bald in some places. Now is hair is thick. Too thick.

Oh, by the way. Notice the comb he pulled out during the performance never touched his hair....?

Not trying to be a hater, but ya gotta wonder.

As a stylist who deals with hair replacement systems, I can spot them no matter how good they are. Prince is wearing very good ( unlike Michael jackson ) lace hair replacement system.
