Youtube had some good concert footage from the Dirty Mind tour a couple of weeks ago. Now they're all gone bye-bye and the links say the vids were removed due to the request of NPG records. Is Prince crazy...wait don't answer that but I don't see how videos from a concert that hasn't been officially released hurts anything as far as fininacially or any other reason> If anything it provides more exposure to the millions who browse youtube. Especially after his American Idol performance, maybe some kids do a youtube search on him and see those awesome early performances. Which will in turn increase record sales of his back catalog (yeah they're owned by WB but Prince still gets a piece don't he.) Don't make sense to me. So I pose the question that doesn't really need a answer: Is Prince crazy?

...but, he's always been somewhat of a recluse, and this just follows the usual pattern...I like to think that maybe he and his advisors are sitting around, waiting to get a full read on the level of interest for vid releases or unreleased material or whatever, and it'll eventually get done....who knows? Maybe he really is an bastard and truly loves dangling carrots and making us jump.....

I think it's a real shame they are removing clips from youtube. A friend recently sent me a link to a clip of The Who playing in their hay-day which was fantastic, I wanted to send something back of Prince in his hay-day - but all the good concert clips had been removed. It was a great way to show how great Prince is live to non-fans. In that sense, Prince is definately shooting himself in his foot. He has everything to gain from increased exposure and nothing to lose.

I doubt that it is Prince doing this directly, I kind of imagine Prince has a legal team on retainer, and they just scour the internet looking for something to justify their continued expense.

I know, and Im a new fan. Seen his old concerts and old videos are a good thing. But I also noticed they taken some of my favorite concerts off from there . Even one of the musicology concert that I really liked.
