The strokes, white stripes etc- all fake wannabeeeez.

What is it with this new lot who all look like they need a wash and lessons in how to tune a guitar. I can't believe the hype that surrounds this growing bandwaggon. Maybe i'm just gettin too old but all i hear is a rehash of mid 60's -late 70's rock, as pleasant as it is to listen to it ain't new. Does anyone else here dig this new lot and can you explain why you would rather listen to them as opposed to the originals?.

You know, I live in Los Angeles and I have friends in bands and in the music business and at this point I have given up trying to keep up with what's cool...the fact that I don't listen to the radio or own a TV probably adds to why I could not tell you who these bands are/were/what they sound like. I've seen their ads pasted on walls and stuff like that but whatever...I do see a lot of free shows (punk, rock, rap, folk, whatever) and that's how I get my new music...I have compilation CDs of a bunch of my friends and their music...some top quality demos and stuff and I can tell u that their stuff is a lot better than the crap that I do happen to catch while out shopping or at bars and stuff. Anyway...whatever...peace...

ah fuck. i didn't wanna get into this one but i must.
i don't find anything very thrilling about the strokes. but the white stripes are one of my favorite new bands. i wouldn't say i'd rather listen to them than the older bands of that style, i dig old and new. i think you got a bug up your ass for no reason. get over yourself. hating on a band for doing their thing. i think this was nothing more than flame bait. well i'm not biting. "fell in love with a girl" is the bomb, and the video kills me everytime.
Keep your headphones on.

A lot of these "flavour of the week" bands disappear up their own exhausts very quickly. We'll see where they are in 12 months time...

Hmmm, your so called "originals" of the 60's and 70's were based on something before them. All pop and rock is re-hashed, so if you don't get it, you must be getting old.

Oh, and the White Stripes kick ass!

I'm not done yet! This sounds like the kind of statement people made when rock and roll first appeared or when people first saw the Beatles, "those boys need a haircut", well, don't you think Niel Young could use a bath too?

I think that their music sound a bit too much like late 70s eraly 80s stuff (Blondie , the Stranglers..) but maybe everything has been done in rock music now...
