Has there been a worse BUTCHERING of a song than the "Clean Version" of Sexy MF? I mean it destroys the song. Who made the decision to make it Sexy MO?

I cannot tell you how mad I was when I replaced my copy with a used one...the cover had the advisory label...but inside was Sexy Mother OWWA! I can't listen to that version as I throw up a little.

At least Sexy Mutha (which I heard for the first time recently) didn't mess with the song too much. Ommission of the dirty word is better than OWWA!

What other songs (Have there been any) have been messed up due to "clean" editing.

I agree it's so corny.

I actually like it. It makes me laugh my ass off. Yes it does get annoying but it is totally in a class of it's own because of the OWWA! Back in the day, my friends were talking about the song and we were all laughing at the OWWA.

I wholeheartedly agree!!! Sexy Motherfucker was my theme song!! Actually, it still is... My kids know exactly when Mama's going out on the town cause they can hear my song down the block, around the corner and three streets over!

When I heard the clean version I was instantly pissed off! I'm not a Sexy Mother Owwa. I'm a Sexy Motherfucker! Plain and simple!

I also agree...its makes the song sound funny.

He did for radio, which was dumb since that song would never be a big hit, anyway. Then, he refused to put out 3 Chains Of Gold, which would have been a huge rock hit. His Bohemian Rhapsody.

As you can guess, it wasn't an independent store that wouldn't worry about such a thing. So, having that edited version meant I could throw it into the playstack when I went in for my shift and watch people's faces when 3 Chains Of Gold came on. what's really funny is...when this song first came out,one of our local R&B radio stations made their own edit of the song,and it sounded ridiculous.Apparently,Warners hadn't sent them the "clean" version yet.They clumsily edited out the word "fucker",making the beat sound disjointed and silly.It was hilarious!

I remember when I first heard the single on DC's WPGC-95.5.

The edit sounded hilarious. And, the DJs had a lot of fun with it, too.

It was campy, it was "Prince being Prince." And, it sounded hilarious. It was, at the time, the closest sonic identifier for Prince as you could get to an Michael Jackson hoop or yelp.

Hilarity.

Thankfully, I have never heard the clean version.

I think it's ridiculous that he's trying to clean up certain songs. I'm so glad I have original versions.
