Albums that you anticipated most Which albums by Prince (or any other artist) cemented your interest? Which albums were the first to be released after you became a fan?
For me, "The Gold Experience" was the first album by Prince that I had anticipated so greatly. I saw the "Soul Train" performance and immediately fell in love with "Now." My brother came upon the "Platinum" CD with "Endorphinmachine" among others, furthering my interest in its release. Unfortunately, we all had to wait for its release, but I couldn't wait to tear it open and put it in once it finally saw the light of day. I was not disappointed at all, and to this day it remains one of my favorites. Other albums that I have anticipated greatly: Prince- Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic Prince- The Rainbow Children The Cure- BloodFlowers Eurythmics- Peace Bjork- Homogenic Janet Jackson- All for You Blondie- No Exit [This message was edited Thu Jul 25 19:02:48 PDT 2002 by Moonbeam]

Batman,
after Lovesexy, and I read a Rolling Stone article at the time that said he recorded it in like 2 weeks or 2 days or hours or something crazy. That was the first time I learned about P's prolific music output. I had to hear this album. heavy feather flicka nipple baby scram water ripple

Oh,
also Madonna's LIKE A PRAYER and anything by Pet Shop Boys like BILINGUAL and George Michael's OLDER, which didn't work out and Michael Jackson's DANGEROUS, which worked out Bjork's POST was really exciting Deborah Harry's album (title?) with that song 'Communion' got me going...that was a good album ACE OF BASE got me reeling but turned out too complicated with their second BRIDGE album (but I still believe in them!) I'll think of some more heavy feather flicka nipple baby scram water ripple

The Symbol Album, after seeing the D&P tour I coudn't wait and it's still one of my favourites.
Also the Gold Experience after seeing the preceeding tour. It's funny but both those albums where badly marketed and they where full of great tracks and so many possible hit singles. I think if Warner Brothers or Prince, who ever was to blame, had got their act together things would have been a lot different today.

Ditto, minus the "Soul Train" performance, but with the added appetite whetting "The Beautiful Experience" special, "WNPG" 1/2 hour on BBC Radio 1 where I first heard "Tora Tora" play the studio version of "Now", then there was a BBC2 Sunday Show special where he played "Billy Jack Bitch" live, then a day or two later I saw the Ultimate Live Experience (or Gold tour) concert at Wembley Arena (still my favourite live Prince show so far), where I heard Gold (and that guitar solo) for the first time and thinking about it now still makes my neck bristle and eyes water! The only disappointment for me was the omission of Days of Wild, and the slight changes to Endorphinmachine from the Interactive CD-ROM/Platinum bootleg version. The Gold Experience was easily my most anticipated CD ever (so far). Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.

I remember eagerly awaiting the "Purple Rain" album in 1984.Those were the days before the Internet,so I had to call up the record stores to see when the release date was.
These day,I eagerly await the upcoming Madonna CD [This message was edited Fri Jul 26 6:51:24 PDT 2002 by DavidEye]

Unfortunately I was not able 2 participate in the online fiasco, however, I WAS 2 poor 2 afford the album and besides..it wasn't even available in stores yet. So I waited...and waited...and waited...and finally I got it like 3 years later.
