Anyone else know about this? That guitar solo is similar to the solo in Sheila E's Dear Michelangelo.

The solo on the album version of A Love Bizarre. The sped-up jazz deal? Wonderful.

Yes, that one! Is it sped-up, though? Been sometime since I last listened to it, but I wanted to mentioned something not as obvious as the RnRHoF, for example.

Anyone else know about this? That guitar solo is similar to the solo in Sheila E's Dear Michelangelo. I think it's the same one, just slowed down. I'd also like to add the solo from "Into the Light" to the pot.

Oh, wow...give me almost anything off the Purple Rain soundtrack and I'm happy with that...and I love the Batdance one; it sounds really good to me. There's another I'm thinking of that is just fabulous, but I can't think of which song it is... HE'S COMING AGAIN

ok ok, I'm going to have to pay more attention to his guitar solos. On another thread, we were debating if he could be on the level of Eddie Van Halen or Hendrix, and I simply don't hear that kind of otherworldly virtuosity.
But I do remember when I saw him live in 2004, I hadn't seen him in over a decade and the band started up and I was thinking "...is this it? This is so totally NOT meeting my expectations..." Then suddenly, he started shredding on the guitar and before I knew it, tears were popping out of my eyes... Maybe it was in "Let's Go Crazy"? It was right at the beginning of the Musicology show.

Oh!!
Forgot about 'Computer Blue'... The piano complimenting the guitar solo is break taking... Almost classical.....

Yeah, I've had that experience. He's not technically an "equal" to VH, but he does some brilliant stuff.

The one in "Dolphin" is short 'n' sweet.
There are quite a few like that, including (but not limited to): "She's Always In My Hair"-the bass interaction is brilliant "Dinner With Delores" -it's a duo, right? "Cybersingle" -the odd installation of the whammy "The Question Of U" -complex simplicity "When You Were Mine" -harmonizing chords! "When Doves Cry" -brittle and slicing etc. The longer ones that still send chills are the likes of what's in: "Computer Blue (extended version)" -urgency that noone will hear (damn!) "America (extended version)" -right after that classic Prince bellow (badass!) "Purple Rain" -well thought out, but swung from the reality of a live performance. That's something one can't produce in the studio= pure passion Also, the whole 'Rainbow Children' album. Every guitar note was outstanding to me. But, what the hell do I know? I'm a bass player "Whatever skin we're in
we all need 2 b friends" | |

Such a good solo. Actually, when I responded earlier and wrote "Into the Light", I was thinking of "I Will". I've always loved that one.
