Prince vs. Nick Lachey

Who will sell more when all is said and done . Prince's 3121 or Nick Lachey's new album? Both of their first week numbers are similar.

Sad , isn't it? razz

from hitsdailydouble.com...

>>Just another week as the weather heats up and hopefully, so do album sales, with the Red Hot Chili Peppers and—would you believe?—Nick Lachey leading the charge.

The Chili Peppers’ mammoth two-CD Stadium Arcadium is headed for a debut tomorrow that could reach 420-430k, the second-best for a rock record since last week’s Tool, which this week heads for between 170-190k, where it will compete with Nick Lachey, whose Jive album appears in the 165-170k range. Columbia’s Urban crooners Jagged Edge (130-140k) and Def Soul/IDJ’s Isley Brothers (110-120k) will be the week's other major debuts.<<<

Well, seeing as how I bought 3121 ages ago, but didn't even know Lachey had a new release, I'd really REALLY like to say I think Prince will do better.

But realistically speaking, the general public has a hard-on for tabloid stars and pretty faces. Lachey just might sell more.

Bummer. sad

What's to compare? Nick Lachey has not had much of a career anyways apart from 98 degrees.

I would go with Prince. thumbs up!

not sure how you think this comment is particularly applicable to the question asked. it isn't a question of careers, it is a question ofeach of their current albums, so career accomplishments are irrelevent, unless of course who are merely interested in defending Prince, regardless if it is irrelevent or not.

Also,

I hope Nick Lachey does real well for himself because "Dancing with the Stars" and "The Surreal Life" always need new contestants.

A good follow up question to that is "who is still around?"

Without even hearing Nick Lachey's album, I say Nick will sell more hands down.

1. He has a big single right now.

2. He actually is doing at least some promotion for it, I saw him on Leno the other night.

I'm willing to be he has more singles coming off the album that'll get some airplay for sure, which is way more than I can say for Prince. \

I love him to death, but that's the truth.

Prince should fuck Jessica and produce an album for her.
Thus she would flop...and less one more pop chick on the block!

ThreadBare

It's all about demographics and their buying power:

An aged super-talent heading to legacy artist status dependent upon a cult fan base (which, sadly, we are...)

A much younger boy-band alumnus who is constantly in the tabloids or on the television, be it for artistic pursuits or bickering with his telegenic and ubiquitous wife.

Nick will make more money, hand over fist.
