Yep. It was 20 years ago that I was ready to throw that album up against the wall and smash it. Andy is a four letter word.

Is there a single other album in music history that so perfectly captures the spirit and magnificience of a Spring afternoon? Within the first ten seconds, you know you're hearing something completely unique and fresh. Parade is one of his most daring and experimental albums. Oh, and it just so happens to have one of the single greatest pop songs of all time on there too. Actually, there's 2, and Parade was in the middle of that trifector: Around The World In A day and Sign O' The Times. Bookmark those 3 works of daring genius with Purple Rain and Lovesexy and you have simply the most inspired 5 year reign of musical brilliance of the entire pop era. No one else at their creative peak, not even the Beatles, so totally stood alone and owned the musical landscape. Over that 5 year period he was consistanly breaking fresh new musical ground, surprising all each time he stepped up to bat. Nobody else came within a country mile. He was totally in the zone during that time, and in '86 he was the mutha-fuckin' musical oracle! . [Edited 5/21/06 2:42am]
