I love that DVD , but I dont like Kravitz

I really hated that Rave dvd. To me it was just depressing, seeing how the "mighty have fallen". It just looked like 3rd-rate Sign o the Times movie

And even though I'm a huge Kravitz fan, I couldn't care less about him live. It's all about the studio for him

It was an awful show. I think it was the reason I took a break from Prince fansites for a few years.

LOL! Looking at some of these posts, I think alot of folks missed that one! lol

Lenny not only performed w/P on the Rave DVD but also back in 95' in NYC.
During The Gold era.....I remember reading that Lenny got pissed off
at Prince because P did not tell him what key they were playing in and
Lenny though P was trying to upstage him and make him look a foool...
Hey didnt MIles say the same thing when talking about playing w/P at Cat's bday party? "that little muthafcker is setting me up"...If I remember correct

I can imagine. Although I would love to be able say I've seen a show at Paisley Park. From what I hear, I might never be able to say that. neutral

Yeah, but u know what? P was probably on the vibe that u should be able to hear what key P's band is playing in and just hop in. If u have a good ear, which P certainly does, u could join in without P or anybody else telling u what key the jam is in. There's no way in hell Miles didn't have a good ear. The comment could have been cuz P's band goes in different changes and sections just from the wave of P's hand. That's easy for the band to follow cuz they've rehearsed that shit to death. Hard as fuck for someone who doesn't know where the band is going and doesn't know P's cues.

I'd be mad at Prince too. Jumping into a basic jam would be a piece of cake, but with all that fancy bandleader shit any guest would look like a fool. And unfortunately I don't think Prince is above that.

I think P likes Kravitz alot, Kravitz was a guest for the 1999 Rave concert & P did respond to Kravitz's Rock & Roll Is Dead with Rock & Roll Lives In Minneapolis. To be perfectly honest with I think they secretly worked together on Kravitz's 1995/1996 album. Kravitz grew up listening to & admiring P, and has said so in many interviews. cool

Does Prince like Mr. Blue? In terms of what? Musicianship? I doubt it. As a person? Who knows. Lenny would be unknown if his parents were NOT rich.

Prince does mention Kravitz in the song MPLS on 1(800)NEW FUNK, if he didn't like then he probably wouldn't have mentioned being in a band Kravitz's mother. Listen 2 the song wink

His mom was wealthy, she was the black actress who was the wife of the white neighbor on 'The Jeffersons' show back in the 70s. She died of cancer a few
years ago.
Lenny was raised with wealth, but the boy has written some cool songs..I like him.

I was going to post this song as well, so I'll post this; Before P decided to do the film G.B., he was going to do a film titled "The Dawn" which he was going to direct, and not act in. It was going to be about two rival bands, one of the bands were to be called The Coco Boys. Two of the members in this band were to be Tony LeMans, who ended up signing with P's label. The other was to be Lenny Kravitz. This is before Lenny put out his debut album. So, obviously P knew Lenny before he was "Lenny". Anyway, Lenny and Tony played in a band together in L.A. called Romeo Blue before Tony quit and signed with P's Paisley Park label. This info comes from the book D.M.S.R. although I already knew Lenny and Tony played in Romeo Blue in the 80's.

Lenny has had maybe 5 good tunes imo his music is bland compared to prince- he made Lenny look pish on the guitar on the rave disc when they had the guitar solo stand-off 2.

"Alaways on the run" is a good song which Lenny and Slash wrote i like that song.

cool Prince is the baddest MOFO lowdown around this town; No doubt! Lenyy is also pretty bad in his own right. I saw him in concert for the first time in February and the boy threw down! Yes, Prince likes him!

What the hell are you people on? Prince and Lenny Kravitz have even been personal friends for many years, have recorded apparently a lot of unreleased music together (if most of it just probably jams) and visited each other's homes many times (Prince even went to Bahamas to stay at Lenny's house, Lenny has been to Paisley Park as a guest more than a few times).

So, I don't know. Does Prince like Lenny Kravitz? I guess that at one point he certainly must have had.

I'm glad this awful-sounding movie never happenend. Instead he made that terrible movie Grafitti Bridge, and left Lenny's career intact. Lucky for us

And so what if Lenny's parents had a lot of money? Sure, his dad financed his demo, but the good people at Virgin saw fit to sign him and have been laughing to the bank ever since. He writes great songs, is an ace engineer/producer, and can play every note on his records if he chooses. He deserves his fame.

It's all good. I dig Romeo Blue.....

Really, I remember Tony Lemans, his Paisley Park album (which I still have) was one of the best. Tony we miss U!But I didn't know he was in Romeo Blue with Kravitz. Is Prince the person who introduced Kravitz to Ingrid Chavez & ruined his marriage to Lisa Bonet?

I don't know what Prince thinks of Lenny but I know I used to think he was a complete poser until I saw a couple of interviews with him. Musically, he's not all that but the brotha has his head on straight and his life philosophy is that of someone I know I could hang with. He knows who he is and isn't living in a dream world. Prince on the other hand, would eventually have me arrested for whooping his lil' ass. Dude is pretentious and elitist and I can't stand elitists. In conclusion, I'd say HANG WITH LENNY BUT PLAY MUSIC WITH PRINCE.

That's right. Lenny also has a side hustle: interior design. A New York Times article, about a year or so ago, talked about how he's branching out into that.

Lenny ain't stupid, by any means.

He probably thinks Tamar has more Skillz than Lenny

I seriously doubt it. Tamar has a nice voice but is nothing special... Lenny is an accomplished musician and a decent songwriter. Prince recognises that even if many of his snobby fans don't.

cool Lenny Kravitz has 8 cds out. Tamar is just a backup singer with somewhat of a good voice. Who is still waiting for Prince to get her cd out. Lenny is a good songwriter & musician. He did not need help from Prince or anyone else in the business to jump start his career. I definitely think Prince knows who has more skillz.

sometimes I wonder, where are the Princes and the Lennys out there? Between them we've had close to 40 yearsof one-man genius guys to emulate, Lord knows I've been trying my best since about 1986, so there have got to be 1000 truly brilliant people out there who need a break. But maybe part of that genius is having the balls and business sense to do it.

Where can I get my hot little hands on some Romeo Blue????? Can't believe I've yet to hear anything!!
