It's Prince's Birthday & no one cares... It's Prince's Birthday & no one cares in MPLS, or anywhere else it seems. Man I remember even last year it was on the local news, in the papers. Now it seems the world is forgetting Prince.
That is such a loss. Not for us Prince fans, but the rest of the world who thinks The Most Beautiful Girl In the World was his last song... "So strange that no one stayed at the end of the Parade..." - Wendy & Lisa's "Song About" on their 1987 self-titled album.

Delores He certainly did not sell out the American tour. The big cities sold out, but most of the smaller cities did not. Also, he wasn't exactly playing arenas.

i gotta story 4 ya, chookalana:
i went 2 the record show at the vfw over on lyndale today, 2 go and see if they had any good stuff 4 cheap (i wuz nearly broke ). well, before i left the place 2 go home i came across this booth and started lookin at the collection of shit there. well, i wuz wearin my hoodie today and i have an assortment of pins on it, includin this crappy prince pin i bought at tatter's. the guy in the booth musta noticed it cuz he said 2 me, "hey, u like prince? u know today's his birthday, right?" took me by surprise...so i wuz like, "yup, i do!" the guy goes on 2 tell me that he's a huge prince fan, and he had some p-related goods up 4 grabs, includin a copy of prince: a pop life that wuz on sale 4 about $5 bux. i only had $4 on me, but he let me have it anyway. yay!!! long story short: there are folks here who still know that the cat exists. believe it or don't. ...and that's the triple-truth...ruth!

There are indeed people who are still Prince fans in MPLS, just not as many as there used to be.

yeah...seems 2 me that either most of 'em are closet fans that keep their shit underwraps, or they're just not as enthusiastic towards the brotha as they used 2 be--like "i used 2 like 'im, but..." i can imagine the fanbase here has dwindled quite a bit. i ain't originally from here, so i really don't know...i figured the locals would be pretty low-key about 'im as it is... edit?! Let's accept he didn't sell out the American tour just in the small cities. Just because you say it... let's accept it... does it change anything? "Now it seems the world is forgetting Prince. That is such a loss. Not for us Prince fans, but the rest of the world who thinks The Most Beautiful Girl In the World was his last song" There're many people who are fond of his music, there're many people who go to his concerts. Even he being out of the record companies structure he's succesful on tours even if he's not playing arenas. He should be pretty happy on how things are working for him now that he's "free". He's doing all he whishes. I'm happy for him too. Great. I don't feel we should have to feel any sorrow or disappointment 'cause most of his (music) fans don't know what date he was born or just don't care about posting any bday congrats or just don't care. Of course this is my opinion.

When's the last time Prince remembered our birthdays? "You need people like me so you can point your fuckin' fingers and say, "That's the bad guy." "

Uh, yeah:
•I don't know him! I've spent less than 2 hours of my life actually speaking with him. It would be WEIRD for me to celebrate his birthday. and •He is opposed to the celebration of birthdays! It goes against his religion! How hard is that to understand?!

First of all, pardon me if this is late, but due 2 time zone differences(I live in the UK) I didnt see this thread untill I woke up this morning!!
Anyway, I think its such public knowledge the world over now that Prince is a Jehovahs Witness, and they are known around the whole world for not celebrating birthdays, so now people tend 2 treat him accordingly now on this particular date!! Just my 2 cents!!

as tackam said, prince doesn't celebrate birthdays...so why would you expect OTHER people to celebrate his birthday?
not to mention the fact that i've seen tons of threads on here and the club wishing him a happy birthday ANYway. i'm not sure what type of worldwide party you would deem appropriate for such an occasion... No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

I was driving on Interstate 40 yesterday, sporting my black symbol skully and I passed this semi-truck and upon getting back in the right lane this car was right on my bumper and then it goes around me...the driver was holding up something and pointing to it. I'm thinking oh no...road rage but, upon further examination, after trying to keep my eyes on the road...I notice that the guy is holding up a ONA cd and he smiles at me. I shook my head yes and smiled back and gave him a thumbs up. That was pretty cool. Prince may not celebrate birthdays but, I am very glad that he was born. Hooray for June 7th. Long live the man and his music.
