Outta Print

What does it mean when an albums out of print? That it's not being mass produced anymore?

So, why do they go outta print? Like TGE, why is that out of print? Does that mean it's never gonna be made again? So that's done? But they still print stuff like Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack or Michael Boltons Greatest Hitts? How does all this work?

Warners made the music out of print to piss Prince off knowing that he likes for everybody to hear his stuff so they took it that route with him...

Yes....Outof print means...they stoped making them..[4 ever who knows]
Why do the stop..it could be a number of reasons...
Contracts...The Rights...Artist Want it pulled...Bad Sales....
Im sure a lot more reasons..i cant even think of...
As Fare as Reissues...thats even harder to say
Who ever owns [or buys]the rights [if there for sale]
Should [Might] be able to put them back out.
But as far as Prince stuff...he dont seem to be worried or care about re'releasing anything as of latley.

I'm not sure about that ..
Why would it only be that CD that's out of print , and not all the others he did for WB ??? ("Black Album" doesn't count , because it wasa "limited" edition anyway ). There's probably some business reason we know nothing about , as to why that one album from his whole catalog, was deleted

Maybe the answer can be found on the back cover of The Gold Experience. Notice that there's an NPG logo found alongside the Warners logo. My guess is that Prince holds more control on this release than on any other.

The whole record industry is subsidised by government, and to protect the market government pays the record companies to destroy excess copies of CDs. In turn the closed market imposes fabricated tariffs on external suppliers thus destroying their trade. As a consequence poverty sets in and foreign economies collapse. People begin to starve all over the world and civil war breaks out. The record companies then decide to throw a huge fucking concert all over the closed economic world under the guise of making poverty history. Before you know it the market is swamped by old CDs supposedly out of print and new CDs of the concerts. The record companies make a mint, the government gets to look concerning and good, all the artists performing in the concert get a career boost and you and I get out of print reissues of old CDs. Meanwhile starving Africans are grateful for our ability to put on a great show.

Well, its either that or they just stop printing CDs that stopped selling….

I'm guessing that was a joke, just delivered as dry as a desert.
