Dear orgers..... I was wondering if any of you were seeing what I'm seeing ?
Regarding Prince's material & the charts of late. Prince IS a legend. This man is Waaaaay past any type of promotion for ANY of his cd's IF it's Good ? then it will sell itself. WHY ??? Because it's PRINCE !!! unfortunately in any business, especially the Movie & Music biz, People want THE DOPE SHIT now !! People would do cart wheels in the streets, if PRINCE would geton some "UN-DENIABLY" DOPE SHIT ! *including myself* The last time I heard shades of "Brilliance" from him was the title track to "Crystal Ball" Even tho it could never get mainstream airplay, it was HARD-HITTIN' for real. some 20yrs from now shit. I'm not sure if today's climate will inspire an artist like PRINCE to even try anymore. Example: 3121 & so many others prior to this release. What do YOU guys think ? Yeah--I feel that way, too...I mean, I know he doesn't have to prove anything at this point, and if he's happy making the music he's making now, that's Kool for him...But I must admit I haven't really been knocked out by any of his recent stuff...not really...I like some of it, but it does kinda make me sad that he's not interested in that loopy, brilliant stuff like "Ballad of Dorothy Parker", and "Crystal Ball" anymore...I still hear flashes of it sometimes, like in "Daisy Chain", and parts of "The Rainbow Children", but for the most part, it seems like he's not interested in that stuff anymore...I wouldn't say "never again", I'm just not holding my breath....
