Prince Electronically

Just how many times has Prince experimented with Electronic Music.
Techno and House have been some of the themes of his music. There was Loose and Everyday Is A Winding Road, WHat other songs have had a distinctly
Dance-Electronic sound.

I think Love does too.
When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading.

Prince rarely dips his toe into this territory these days, and probably with good reason - he's generally terrible at it.

Not that there aren't good examples of Prince attempting electronic or dance music, 'New World' is my favourite Emancipation track, but Prince's attempts often sound very dated, staid and plain tacky.... I don't think he really listens to much dance music to soak in any influences above the very surface of commerciality.

IMO, there have been convincing and interesting attempts at dance music, the NPG b-sides are listenable, and a few things from 86-88 were really soaking in influences of House and (Detroit) Techno - 'Bob George', 'The Line', some of the other Lovesexy and Black Album stuff.

sex me sex me not
get loose
come on (hyper mix)
get wild (in the house)

but like others already said, they often sound dated and flat.

Aren't some of those "remixed" by someone other than Prince?

i don't think so. but if they are than we can also include
the remix of "The Future" which imo is still the best tune
he ever did utilising electronics. and that was remixed by
someone else. who was it again, was it william orbit?

Actually many of his songs have an electronic edge to them as evidenced by Erotic City, Head, When DOves Cry etc.

My favorites...

Melt with U
Strange But True
Judas Smale
High
Sex Me Sex Me not
Love
New World

Christian Zombie Vampires

and:
melt with u
Pheremone (to some extent)
319 (to some extent)

I think Prince does it best when he uses elements of the electronic sound but doesn't dip into just plain old imitation.

I believe it's in the handbook for The Hits that it says Prince hates electronic instumentation. He likes old classical sounds.
