FOR YOU+PRINCE+No mention at all

Lately, These 2 lps are NON-STOP playing in my CD player and THEY GOT EXACTLY what I need from the brotha(Mellow cuts and Funky Grooves). The funny thing is everybody keep asking me 'Is that Smocky Robinson or The Bee Gees??' and I'm like 'SAAAYYY W-H-A-T?? lol'. Ever since I came here, I haven't seen many mentions about these LPs and I wonder why since they got ya'll type of flavor.

Every now & then I go through an early Prince phase that normally lasts a few weeks. Those albums bring me hope as Prince was around my age when he made these.

I know exactly what you mean by mellow cuts & funky grooves. I always though that these albums sounded so good because its mostly all Prince & the way Prince would have done it. No session musicians, no producers - just Prince

I like these albums too but has anyone noticed that "Still Waiting" on the 'Prince' CD is screwed up? 2 problems:

1. The 1st second of the intro is clipped off.

2. The instrumental portion after the clipped intro is edited. It should be twice the length.

For some of the newer fans who have only heard 'Prince' on CD might think that this is the way the song is supposed to be but for those of us who had it on vinyl, we know the song was f'd up in its transfer to CD.
Or do I have the only CD that was screwed up?!?confused

But this begs me to ask Warner Bros.: Where are the remasters?!?

YOu dont hear about these albums because most of the children that are logged in here were born in the 70s and 80s and are simply too young to really know what the hell they are talking about. Old school fams like FACE been there since the first record and bought them all when they were released

Oh please! rolleyes Age has nothing to do with it. I was born in '78 and my favoutite Prince 'era' is 79-83. If you were there while it happened, then good for you! I can't help when I was born.

Actually age probably does have a lot to do with it, but also anyone of any age CAN like any era of Prince they feel.

What? It seems to me you're contradicting yourself. One one hand you age matters then you say anyone of any age can like any era.

I really like both albums. Good solid pop songs and great ballads. sure a little contrived, but this proved Prince can write a hit when asked, and the playing was superb.

I just love the fact that these 2 LPs are not too over-produced YET not too ACOUSTIC(Or whateva the term is lol) and you can't help but get impressed by his voice. His VOICE is pretty much like his MUSIC, you just can't lable his music(We'll know that) pretty mucgh like you can't LABLE his voice, I've been trying to make up my mind whether he have that DEEP THICK GOLDEN VOICE but in a second he would pop on yo face wit a SILCKY SMOOTHY LIGHT VOICE and yet do that THICK one after that. I'm guessing, since he went lil' bit NEO SOUL(rolleyes) he could do another LP wit his 70's style(The ol' 70's not the recent one rolleyes) and do a FOR YOU/PRINCE-esque LP, how about that?? That would b ORIGINAL without even trying like Neo fucking Soul. Yeah I just want him to bring the 70's style to the scene since no body is getting enough of it.

I love them both. When I stop at red-lights, and people here my radio blasting "For You" (any part of the album, especially the first song, I think it's called 'fallin in love')

Some old man always pulls to the side of my car and says, "What you know bout dat young fella!" big grin

I laugh and say 'too much'

That's great stuff. Imagine the reaction I get when folks see a white boy in Boston crankin the old Prince hits at a red light. Sometimes people crack up. Makes my day.
