This sounds very much like Camille who made 'Le Fil' which I enjoyed a lot.
Has this cover version of 'Girls and Boys' been released? . ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

Yes, it's Camille, as it says in the thread title.
No, not released. [Edited 5/13/06 11:25am]

Absolutely brillant. The best Prince cover I have ever heard.
Camille is an amazing talent. So gifted. " Je serai toujours de retour bande de mods à la con de mes deux " Moi - 2007

Her last album. 'Le Fil', is a very interesting recording.
The line 'Le Fil' running through the recording is a continuous sound. She was particularly championned by Charlie Gillet who featured her music on his BBC World Service programmes: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worl...usic.shtml http://www.charliegillett.com/ This programme is always worth a listen. Not all of it will necessarily be to your taste - but its a great straigtforward way to begin broadening horizons without paying airport taxes and burning a hole in the ozone. This page illustrates the range of music he plays: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worl...acks.shtml The first night I heard Camille, he played a track from her album segued with some European accordion music, 21st Century avant garde recording, and Louis Armstrong from the 1920's. Just give it a try ... ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.

As for Camille - here's her website:
http://www.camille-lefil.com/ I'll correct what I mentioned above - she's released a live album since 'Le Fil' - details on the site, via the address above. [Edited 5/13/06 13:18pm] ALT+PLS+RTN: Pure as a pane of ice. It's a gift.
