Here is the deal. I am a 21 year old HUGE Prince fan, but I find it really hard to find anybody my age who digs Prince's jams. At shows I've been to recently, all most of the crowd seems to be in 30s and 40s. I hate how my generation clings to crap like NSYNC and P DIDDY.

What can be done to retake mainstream music and save my generation from poor music?

i'm 21!!! and i totally understand where you're comin from--most of the music nowadays is absolute shit.

i find solace in all my prince stuff & old-skool funk.

I'm 24 also and I would say just share your music with your friends. I always play Prince in the house or car and I get non-fans to hear his New work. They really get into him and are Un-Aware that he is still putting out music. I guess we just have to Spread the word and get in touch with local radio stations and t.v. Promotion is the key as is Word Of Mouth. Fans keep wearing those Prince T-Shirts . Let the world Know he's still quite Viable and Marketable.

being a prince fan can be lonely sometimes, esp when the world thinks he's locked himself inside paisley park for good(he hasn't...has he?).

...one thing you could do is make a couple tapes of your favorite songs for a friend. can't make anyone like what you do, but it could be something you both get into together.

other than that, try to get used to people saying 'Prince...is he still making music?' Most of us grew up with "You like Prince? He's a fag."

Also, I feel like I am a music isolationist when it comes to my love of Prince. Nobody else I know really appreciates his music...

And I wouldn't change that for the world!! Prince's music is my little world, my little retreat, and I love it!

Im 21 too! last april at the Kodak, i looked around and saw only thirty-year-olds, not that i mind them. but i know what it feels like to be young and in love with Prince...

you have to be an intellectual to love or like Prince music... it is above all kiddie crap

I can totally hear where you're coming from. I am 15, so i get harassed by just about every other person in my age group, who can't imagine that someone from the 80's could Ppossibly still be alive! It get's hard.

Im only 17 and I've found being bitter about the whole thing is pointless. However, I cant help but lecture my friends on how much they are missing out on! Hey it would be cool if everyone in the world loved Prince . . . wait, no it wouldn't! Then we might not get the special treatment like we do now since there would be soo many of us. Just be happy that U discovered the magic that is Prince. Its their loss!!

Thanks for the advice...for now I will continue to bump my Prince Jams from "Rainbow Children" to "Dirty Mind" and let it catch on to all the young minds that I hang with.

Hey, I'm 23 and I've gotten used to being the only one who digs Prince. But I must say, in the last 5 years, I've been finding people around my age who like Prince or dig some of his songs. It just come down to the fact that you like what you like, they like who they like. I will not dog anyone who likes *NSync and Britney because if I judged them, those same people will judge me once I mention that I'm a Prince Fan. When it comes down to it, all those who don't like Prince are the ones that are missing out. We're the one's who've seen the Dawn. I'm excited about that and I hope you are too.

I'm a youngin, as well. I was a little creeped out last year when I went to the Face to Face tour (Billy Joel & Elton John). I was very easily the youngest person there.

I agree, everyone thinks I'm crazy liking Prince. Oh well. I'm young and have good taste!
