That's like not being able to say whether some White guy is cute or not simply based on his skin color. Cute is cute no matter the shade - there's no need to put a person in a different category simply based on that unless... But you go ahead & call it pc if that makes you feel better. But as a Black woman who would apparently require a whole different category I can't really do that . [Edited 5/17/06 1:43am] It doesn't change the fact that that isn't what she was saying at all. She clearly meant that Tamar's a different case, since she has much more classic African looks, and so whether or not she's pretty to you would depend on your preference. Calm down already. I've been calm. Let's just agree to disagree - you think it's perfectly fine to recategorize folks based on race/skin color/"classic African looks", I think it's questionable. End of story

Yes, I think it's perfectly fine to point out the obvious-that Tamar has classic African beauty, and that she's therefore pretty if you find that kind of look attractive. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

That is the "look". She is fine by all measures.

Right, that's her look. I'd kill to go down on her. The world is a comedy for those who think and a tragedy for those who feel.

PurpleKnight said: Oh good, the Politically Correct Police have arrived in the thread. Phew, I was getting worried there for a second.
All she meant is that Tamar is good looking if you find classic African looks attractive. She said nothing to imply that black women can't be pretty like white women. Now laurarichardson will come into the thread with a retarded post about how this site has been racist for years. Thank you for understanding my point. The fact is, different strokes for different folks. Not saying one is prettier than another, just different preferences. Beauty is really the eye of the beholder. There is no scientific standard... only people's perception. My post merely reflected, that although many initially thought the twins were better looking than Tamar because they have been 'Beyoncified", (blond long hair, carmel skin color), if you look at the facial features and facial symmetry, in my opinion, Tamar is prettier. I can go to the wig store and buy long blond hair, I can go to a makeup counter and buy lighter skin tone... but there is only so much you can do about the shape of your lips, eyes, nose, smile, bone structure. Yes, thank you that is EXACTLY what I was saying. It is easy to see that my original statement could be taken out of context. I guess in editing, my intent became unclear. My point was Mani looks better than the twins, so why are people tripping that 2 "beautiful" women are out with Prince. Tamar, on the other hand is pretty, and if anyone would be a "threat" to Mani because of beauty, it would be Tamar. I qualified that statement with the addition, "that all of this depends on whether you have a preference to light skinned vs dark skinned." Can we agree that such a thing exists??? Classic African beauty? because the fact is there are some looks that are more prevalent in certain geographical locations. European beauty has certain facial characteristics more common as African beauty has certain facial characterstics more common. But what they have in common is they are both BEAUTY. I qualified that statement with the addition, "that all of this depends on whether you have a preference to light skinned vs dark skinned." If that makes sense in your world then that's great. But it's very simple - someone's beauty should not be dependent on their skin color. So I still don't see why Tamar has to be recategorized based on being "chocolate"... but whatever...
