EXPOSING PRINCE TO FRIENDS/RELATIVES

Although many already know how great Prince is, they're are many that don't (friends/relatives). My Niece turned 20 during the Musicology tour. She knew some Prince songs, and especially loves Adore. I had recently purchased the 1985 Prince & The Revolution concert on VHS. She's was over one day, so I asked her if she wanted to watch it, and she said yes. Well, the concert wasn't even half over and she was blown away! She just kept saying over and over that Prince is just so talented.

At a previous job, I shared a cubicle with this guy,and we used to bring in CD's and play them on our computers. He'd mostly be listening to some alternative rock, while I'd be jammin' Prince, and many other artists. After a few months, he said to me, I've never listened to so much Prince in my life, but I"ve really come to appreciate him! Although Prince is not many people's favorite (like he is mine), it's unfortunate that so many people still don't realize how talented he is! So if you have an opportunity, plese expose him when you can! I'm sure many of you already do. Please share you stories of exposure ( no pun intended) wink . Take Care.....

Seriously, in my opinion he is themost talented unique individual in the 20th and 21st centuries. He really needs to be given more props and recognition.

I said to one of the girls that I thought Prince was hot eek. They laugh at me, saying he was gay neutral.

Exposing Prince to friends/relatives, is exactly like if you'd replace the word "Prince" from the thread's title with "yourself". You'll most likely get pretty much the same reaction from them.

I seriously think I put people OFF Prince.

I don't know. I go on about him so much and peoples reaction is ...

..'Um...Prince' - and they look around nervously.

Why? It pisses me off. People are so narrow minded.
Shut up already, damn.

I've well and truely put my wife off Prince. She used to like some of his old studio stuff, but I think I've ruined all that for her with my constant barage of live versions that I play. I just checked my iTunes actually and I have 581 Prince tracks.....Maybe I could vary it up just a little for her.

For the person asking about Live DVD's, I have to recommend Rave un2 the year 2000. Best concert I've ever seen. Ever. The versions of Kiss, Baby I'm A Star and She's Always In My Hair stand out for me. I wish I could get it onto my iPod, but there you go, can't always get what you want.

Cheers
Jarvis

Probably my two sisters, but it wasn't intentional. I always was a huge Prince fan growing up and was constantly buying records and listening to music in general. They listened to the radio but never bought any records. I know they liked a few songs of his but never figured they would spend any money of him.

When Prince finally brought his ass back ot Jackson in 1997, I was very shocked to see that both of them went to the concert. Of course, they had the cheap nosebleed seats at the very top of the coliseum and they told me that I looked like a little ant way down in the fourth row. lol

are people so narrow minded or are Prince fanatics simply to narrowly focused on Prince and their interest in him that they can't see the fact that it is okay for others to actually not care for his music.

if you like chocolate covered brocolli, good for you. but that doesn't make others narrow minded if they don't or simply do not want to try it.
this message brought to you by logic.

He's talented in so many ways. I don't think there's been a pop star who does as much as he does. Not only does he write, produce, sing, play all the instruments, is well versed in several styles and genres, but he also choreographs, dances, directs, acts, does fashion design, he even paints I think, and is a pioneer in independent music publishing. No one else comes close. Even with all the fame and adulation he gets, he's still underappreciated in his time.

I always find that when you play him live to people - thats when they start appreciating him -

His 'Kiss' performance on the lovesexy tour made my mom peep up over her newspaper - whth a little smile on her face

'I could never take the place of your man' off SOTT blows my boyfriends mind - he loves it!! and also 'Fury' off SNL he loves as well and really loves the 3121 album - especailly TAC

My ex boyfriend from about 13 yrs ago was a huge hevy metal fan but absoulutley loved 'Starfish and Coffee' but I was never allowed to tell his friends that of course lol lol

PLEASE DON'T MISUNDERSTAND. OF COURSE, NOT EVERONE LIKES PRINCE FOR WHATEVER THE REASON WHICH IS FINE, BUT I WAS JUST MERELY POINTING OUT THAT THERE ARE STILL MANY THAT DON'T KNOW HOW TALENTED HE IS.....AND MY EXPERIENCE HAS BEEN THAT ONCE THEY FIND OUT THEY BECOME BIGGER FANS. NO, NOT ALL BUT SOME.
