I just can't imagine him singing "I Know It"... he already did. only his version was called "when you were mine." sure, his song is a ton better but its the same general pop style. i could imagine the prince of 1981 singing "i know it" and making it rad.

i don't think he's got it in him to do something like "station to station" any justice. i'd like to hear it just to see what he'd do with it but i wouldn't expect much. prince is no bowie...and bowie is no prince.

You're kidding me! "I Know It" is one of the stupidest songs I've ever heard. You just can't compare it to "When You Were Mine"!!! The only Madonna song I can imagine Prince singing is "Secret Garden"!

I always thought it would be cool to hear Prince do some songs from
"Dark Side of the Moon". I guess it would be cool to hear his take on all of the songs...especially some of the music. "this is where the PURPLE PARTY PEOPLE be"

Me too. Not sure what I would pay more to hear...Dance the Night Away or Beautiful Girls covered...Would make great guitar P record, with sense of humor injected into his music Prince's sense of humor in his lyrics seems a bit absent of late...Though the Fellas and Lolita call and response amuses me merf

runningbear said: Just curious if there was one record you would like P to cover every tune on it what might it be? Of course Prince would be given full latitude to change and produce the arrangements as he sees fit:
A couple of my choices: Billy Joel "An Innocent Man" I would love Prince to sound this happy and spirited on disc. Prince could do a funky "Uptown Girl", a stunning "leave a Tender Moment Alone", a hearty "Tell Her About IT", and a naughty take on "An Innocent Man. Not sure if he could do it better than Billy, but sure would enjoy him trying to take on this masterpiece to see what he could work it into. I guess my fear is he would Emanicipate "An Innocent Man", and make it sound too plastic and not as sincere as it could be. Maybe Prince needs Cindy C., as it took Christie Brinkley to inspire Joel. Prince doing Led Zeppelin II could be inspiring. He could make some interesting arrangements. I guess he already has with Whole Lotta Love. Heartbreaker would be great guitar, Sheila could do Moby Dick. Maybe I meant Prince should cover Houses of the Holy instead. Or perhaps a Beatles recording! I very much agree with you on the Billy Joel thing. Just what I was thinking. That would have been cool!

I'd like to hear him do something out of his comfort zone, like
Revolver--The Beatles or The River--Bruce Springsteen or The Joshua Tree--U2 Three artists I think he doesn't hate, but does not quite understand why everyone loves & respects so much. I think if he gave them the old One of Us "everyone should sing this" theory into practice it might affect his own music, and for the better. My Legacy
