WHat was up with the chains and MicGun?

Prince in New York on the Act I tour (24th March, 1993)

Really. He he run out of ideas and this was the best he could do? I also wonder how long it was until those chains smaking him in the face got annoying.

I thought the chains were part of the character who didn't let anyone see his true self. This character sings My Name Is Prince & Sexy MF--the bragging macho songs. This character is killed in the "7" video.

So I think it represents the negative side of Prince--the one who's into sex & not love, fame & not art. He's going through this battle at least since the Gemini character of Batman and all through the name change.

The MicGun represents using music/words as a weapon.

I bet those chains were really annoying, though (not to mention really goofy). When someone wore them onstage at the Musicology concert didn't he say something like "I know that kid can't see a thing right now!"

Yes, not to mention it a very loose concept album that tells the tale of the princess 7 guards King of Cairo...etc. He has a way with double meanings nod

I saw them as this glammed out George Clinton funk kinda thing. No more weird than assless pants, ejaculating guitars, or zorro blindfolds.
