Do you include 1999 on Prince CD's you make for others or is it passe?

There seem to be two pervading opinions on whether or not one should included in mix CD's.

-Being 2006 it is passe-Prince doesn't perform it anymore for the same reason.

-It's one of his biggest hits and it should be included.

Fellow purple people, what is the general consensus?

It may be passe, but it is one of Prince's signature songs, so I'd say include it in the compilation wink .

i've never included it. i can't say why but it is one of the perhaps
6 or 7 prince songs that i have always disliked from the very start.

which is strange because i do appreciate it and realise what a kind
of special song it is. but it just doesn't do anything for me except
bore the pants off me.

I dunno, I can't even LISTEN to it. Not cuz it's 2006 but cuz radio killed it for me, and it was never one of my fave Prince tunes anyway.

I say leave it off. If your makin' it for somebody else, why not put a song that you don't hear every other day.

it all depends...if I'm doin a mix for someone who's interested in the P or tryin to figure out what all the hubbub is about, I'll put it on there b/c it is one of his most identifiable tracks....

...but for myself or someone who likes P and likes the way I put together a mix, I won't unless they ask for it....most of the fans I know think it passe...or they usually want something with his raunchy tracks...or a slow jam/ballad disc....and it doesn't fit either catagory well...

No, but I don't include Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain or Lets Go Crazy (unless it's the dance mix), I usually would use Automatic, Lady Cab Driver, Controversy & 17 Days
