"Brother With A Purpose" is the only exception Yes Tony M is a clunky piece of dated early 90s semi rap, his amateurish rapping is more derivative of a c1988-89 feel than the 1990 to 1993 period its been dated to. (I am a archaeologist so a bit of scientific wit never goes astray- carbon dating rap music) Dated songs Jughead, Brother with a purpose, His rap on my name is Prince (ruins a perfectly good song). Although his rap is somehow also has a pre Cooolio feel to it as well. For You is dated 70s disco sounding stuff, but fortunately I like the way its dated like a fine wine. Generally Lovesexy, Batman and GB and some of Diamonds and Pearls (Jughead, willing and able, Strollin and Gett Off ) are that sort of dated flouro colour 1989-1991 Pump up the jam type nonsense. The rest of D and P especially Thunder is fresh and as relevant as ever. Yes he DID ruin a perfectly good song Along with Luv 2 the 9's. But let's stick to the topic... Outdated beats and sounds to todays hiphop style rnb? Is this the question? If it is then Prince doesn't have many songs with that feel to them. Black Sweat could be an example but the singing aspect is off from what today's rnb singers do.
So to answer the question every song. But anything with the 'discoesque/80's' feel has to be outdated entirely. Controversy 1981 Dirty Mind 1980 Prince 1979 For You 1978 Nothing on there could be released today and be put into any category except disco/retro rnb/80's/70's. 1999 is the same way mainly. I think many of his classic Slower songs could be released in todays world except with enhanced sound like Beautiful Ones, Purple Rain, and Darlin Nikki from the Purple Rain Album. Pop Life i can see it in todays music world a little bit. Nothing really from Parade, Kiss eventhough loved by most has outdated lyrics. If I Was Your Girlfriend could be released today definitely. That has a beat much like today's hiphop producers love to produce. In addition the lyrics are definitely relavent. My favorite song from the SOTT album is 'I could never take the place of your man' this doesn't sound bad at all still and i think it could appeal to the adult/pop rock audience of today. Another crooner song, When 2 R N Love, I love you in me, and Scandalous definitely could hit hte RnB market today. The production is stripped down in W2RNL so it doesn't have that outdated feel. Scandalous has it all to me, its edgy rnb and thats what rnb is today for the most part. I love you in me has a 'live' feel to it but since it lacks much production it could pass. MOney Don't Matter 2nite could be popular with the adult rnb of today. It has alot of good lyrics that still apply today. THe music is soft and not outdated unless you compare it to the hiphop beat rnb culture. now there is a big lull until you get to SHHHHH. I think this could be released today maybe minus the opening drum sequence. This is typical hiphop rnb lyrics definitely. Most Beautiful girl in the world could also appeal to the Rnb fan of today. Coming to Emancipation I seem always want to try this album out again and again. I swear i can find good songs in here but there arn't many. I try and try again but still not much. Prince's Remake of Bonnie Raitt's "I can make u love me" could easily be released today though. Somebody's Somebody has a mild shot. So Far so Pleased with Gwen Stefani, could be released by star power alone and its not that bad of a pop rock song either. I love you, but i don't trust you anymore has the lyrics. Call my name is obviously not outdated at least to me. It was a song purely for radio. Out of the last cd, i think black sweat, IAC, Fury and the Dance could definitely hit the air waves of different radio stations.

the lovesexy production sound outdated 2 me,
don't like the album 4 that reason no warmth some of the graffiti bridge and diamonds and pearls tracks got the same problem.. and almost al of his (house) remixes are crap beacause of the outdated production but the rest is still top notch!

although I like the song....somewhat....
U Got the Look....it sounded pretty dated when it came out.....I'm a frequent watcher of the SOTT concert movie and whenever it comes on I fast forward (VHS...can't locate it on DVD, and a little too leery of buying a crappy bootleg) thru it.... He was like a cock who thought the sun had risen to hear him crow.
