HOW DOES "OFF THE WALL" COMPARE TO PRINCE'S CLASSICS?

I'm listening to my MP3 player while I'm posting....random play...and Off the Wall (the song) comes on....and I was reminded how much I really dug that album...

So I'm puttin' it out there.....how does it play compared to Prince?

really?? "Ranger Choke Hold!!"

But seriously...I will have to agree. At that time MJ was the shit. I had both Prince and MJ on my wall as a teenager. Off the Wall was played on a regular basis...on record player with scratches and all. biggrin

Seriously, I`m getting tired of seeing MJ somewhere on the first page of a Prince board.

I think I`d rather sit through a video of MJ blowing one of those kids than see another Prince vs. MJ topic here.

No no,but really, who's better P or MJ? Really? Please?

OK, If Prince and MJ were to have a fight, who would win?

Easy, Prince. MJ's just a cartoon character and Prince is a real man! (only half his height boxed )

Prince still looks hot in 2006. MJ in 2006 looks like a mutated goblin, and he`s most likely a child molester.

Prince wins.

vivid

I adore this album and it's the only MJ album that I still listen too. It was released in 1979 I think, same year as Prince. I think it tops that album easily, but I don't think it measures up to the '80 - '87 P albums. Great though it is, there isn't the daring, experimentation, quirkiness and emotional depth of the Prince albums that would follow. It is however, an easier listen than most P albums for the same reason, so I imagine many Jackson fans would disagree hotly.

"ANOTHER variation of a Prince vs. MJ thread? Oh man."

....granted, I'm not tryin to suggest that its better or its a P vs MJ bitch-fight....P puts the beatdown on the freak 10 out of 10....just pointin out and curious to see how other orgers feel about it....

....if I offended anyone's fandom sensibilities, relax...it ain't that serious.....

You didn`t offend me at all, you just slightly annoyed me.

This is a forum for Prince, not the white goblin. If people wanna hear about him, they should watch CNN.

At the time I heard the singles but didn't know about the album,
in Europe Thriller IS considered as his classic album.

Off The Wall has some great songs(Working Day and night & title track are
my fav) and just maybe it's better than what Prince did in this period,
but after Thriller Mj never was this great anymore and
instead Prince got better and better!!
