I've seen a lot of Christians with bowl cuts, especially old school monks, and frankly they look kinda penis like to me. However, I've seen some atheists with bowl cuts too...

If people cannot discuss spirituality with reason, then yes. But, if people can act civil, then it is fine the way it is.

I asked for a religion forum. I figured IceNine and I could bash Christianity together. smile

But, though an atheist, I do love a good talk on religion, and not just Christianity! Bring on the Buddhists! The Muslims...etc, etc and so on!

First of all, it's always a little off-putting to see misspelled words in the title of a thread. Reminds me of the "Dessert Island" thread!

Secondly, "god" and "atheist," as used in the title, are not exactly antonyms, but hey, I get the idea.

Lastly, while I have no supernatural, religious, or astrological beliefs, I find the term "atheist" to be offensive. For me, it's a pejorative term that religious people use to describe free-thinkers.

Okay, so after those preliminaries, let me tell you what I REALLY think! There must be a "religion gene" or "religion center of the human brain" to explain why ordinarily intelligent and informed individuals base their beliefs on a book written thousands of years ago by people who thought that the world was flat!

I'm not necessarily against religious thinking. In fact, I'm kind of envious of those who actually believe there's a divine "plan" for their life, and in the end, they'll enjoy "eternal life." No wait, who in their right mind really wants to live in some dream-state for eternity?!

Religion must surely calm the nerves. Bad shit happens, like September 11th, and you can blame the devil, or talk about the free will of man. Those that died - well, "G" has a plan for them! When you have to compete, like for a job or in a sporting event, just pray for your success. If the other guy wins, perhaps his prayers were better, or maybe you were "bad" recently. Then again, maybe that busy guy upstairs was just testing your faith! No sweat, it's all part of the plan, designed just for little ole you.

Won't heaven seem a little crowded when the next 6 billion people come knockin'? Does life exist on other planets (Mormon's exempted on this one!), and if yes, do they get to hang out in the same heaven?

Whatever! I could have fun with this all damned day! A single forum will do just fine.

Max - you're right. Although I don't mind being called an atheist smile

People choose religion to make them feel better about the events that happen in every day life. Some people need to feel there is a "purpose" for all the shit that happens in life and someone looking out for them.

Religion is a crutch that weak people can lean on to make them feel better about life.

Strangely enough, neurobiological research has shown that religious epiphanies can be triggered in a laboratory environment by stimulation of certain areas of the brain.

The human brain is hard-wired for religious experiences.

NO. I want this place divided into neat Tolerant and Intolerant forums. Like every time you would log on to the Org, you would be asked to complete a survey (diffrent each and every time!), and your answers would automatically direct you to the right forum for your mood that day.

Today's survey :

How are you today?
a) Wonderful, and you?
b) Fine, thanks.
c) Ok.
d) Not so good.
e) Awful
d) I wish I were dead

If someone was to accidentally sneeze in your freshly served dinner plate after you starved yourself to fit in that outfit you really like, what would you say?
a) "That's ok... I'll just get another plate."
b) "Why my plate?"
c) "Are you stupid?"
d) "@£¤±£¢¤"
e) "YOU are going to eat this."

When was the last time you got laid?
a) "I am getting some right now."
b) "Within the last 48 hours."
c) "Within the last week."
d) "Two weeks ago"
e) "Last month"
f) "Last year"
g) "Last century."
i) I'm a virgin.

Dear TheMax,
I did not realise I employed you as my spelling teacher, if you want the job, you are getting shit! Although you could come and clean out my pad and prune my feathers.

We do not have a religion gene, we choose to believe what we believe in - or was it because I was stuck in a Convent for 14 years?

Let us pray...

lol IceNine, am I offending you in any way? Not all dickheads are bad people, don't get too upset. As for Christians, there are some good and bad too, all the nuns at my Convent were fag smokin', beer swillin' sex starved crazies, who loved to punch people and crash their cars, then they would PREACH TO US!

For good Christians, see Moonbeam-the most tolerant, loving, gorgeous example of spirituality and the christian faith that I've ever had the pleasure of meeting.
