Did this affect your opinion...

OK, this is a strange question, but I really must ask it anyway. lol

Before I heard "Let's Pretend We're Married" I was told that there would be a part in there that was rather filthy. I was like "nah, can't be that bad," but was still curious. Well, I looked in the lyric booklet and was told it was not there, so that made me even more curious to know what was in that song. I think we all know what I'm talking about, but anyway.

If you've ever known ahead of time that there was something extremely dirty in a Prince song, did it affect your opinion of the song? Did it make you more inclined to listen carefully? Just curious

I've never really cared too much for Prince's swearing. Just seemed like needless shock value... If anything, it makes me like the songs less.

This is why the Black Album was so successful as a bootleg...
everyoe wanted a piece of "dirty Prince"
Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

Was more silly than dirty IMO...

But no, that never affected my opinion of a song, maybe just made me a bit more curious to initially hear it...I was a little kid when I was first discovering Prince, after all.

yer

I was only 10 years old. The only way I could have a pic of prince or be able to listen to prince was because I told my father he was not black so he said alright. Plus when my father was hearing the dirty songs he told me I have to learn about sex one way or the other. cool lol

Well hearing bad words on a song back in 1982 was a big deal, but now it doesn't phase me.

Wow confused
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

I had heard that 1999 was quite dirty. When I was younger, I had heard that my uncle had brought the album but sent it back because it was too dirty. That didn't make sense because my uncle is one dirty dude so I don't beleive it today. I didn't buy the album until I was 15 and I was a little surprised to hear Let's Pretend... but I still dug it. I liked the song and it didn't take anything away from that.

Hearing that line for the first time just made me like him even more. I mean nobody I had listened to before said things like that.

I think it's actually one of the best lyric lines of all time.

thumbs up!

I think that's partly why I loved Prince's music right from the beginning. He was saying and doing so much more than others. When I hear artists today swearing etc, it doesn't have much of an appeal for me, but when I first heard Prince, it grabbed my attention and held it.
