Chevy Ad Using "Little Red Corvette"???

My friend saw an outdoor Chevy billboard advertising the new Corvette with the words "Little red corvette, baby you're much too fast" and with the symbol logo on it. Is this true??? Has anyone seen it? Has Prince truly sold out??? Is this the new Jehovah's Witness Way: "make money at any cost to your soul..."

If so, I'm thoroughly disgusted.

It's a marketing exercise by Prince to try to generate some pocket money for himself out of a classic song that HE WROTE.

He even had the decency to ask his audience at the Celebration what they thought of this very idea he was contemplating.

Surely he has a say, and every right, to do with his creation as he damn well pleases.

I see absolutely nothing wrong with that.

I have seen it in print...not on billboard yet. I have a friend that said he saw the billboard here in Houston. I don't really think of it as selling out. He did make a song about it 20 years ago. He could have made a profit then...I think it is smart business sense! idea

A little, red corvette is a miniature red corvette, of course.

Actually, it's the meaning of "rosebud", from 'Citizen Kane'...

I believe that the sled was red... EDIT: this is merely conjecture, as the movie was black and white.

For those of you who haven't seen "Citizen Kane..." Rosebud is a fucking sled!!!

Now... the reality is that the sled was only a symbol for the loss of innocence and joy of childhood, thus Kane could buy everything that he ever wanted but he could never regain the innocence and wonder of his childhood.

um..sure..yes..that's what the Jehovah witnesses say...please...rolleyes
why is ev'rything the Jehovah witnesses? if prince wants to sell his songs, that his choice...
i don't really like the idea personally, but again..it's prince's choice...

so if prince is a 'sell-out' and you are disgusted by this, i hope you don't own anything by moby, bowie, madonna, michael jackson, barenaked ladies, smashmouth, and the list goes on and on...

Yeah! I saw this exact billboard too, in Cleveland, Ohio along a major freeway. Even took my videocamera and filmed it -- lol!!! What cracks me up about the billboard is that they use o(+> instead of Prince on the sign. Guess the folks at Chevy don't know that Prince went back to using his real name. lol rolleyes

thanks for pointing out exactly WHY it is so disappointing. prince was one of the few who hadn't sold his music to an advertiser. sad sad sad.

Yes it is true! I was in Chi Town last week and saw it. However, His name is Prince now, and nolonger the Symbol, so i'm sure they could use it without paying Prince. Annastasa

Actually some of those fans are. Although the fact that the performers listed above aren't exactly still working (in the Who's case they only get together to tour every few years) might have a little to do with you not hearing as much about it.

Technically he hasn't sold his music to an advertiser. It's his printed lyric and his symbol.

Maybe because the symbol is trademarked. Mas dinero.
