Prince's Pete Seegers Sessions

Just curious if Prince went on a tangent and decided to release a whole record of material written by another singer or band.

This topic inspired by my first viewing of a video from Bruce Springsteen's Pete Seeger Sessions, sounded pretty good.

Anyway, I think I shall cast the first vote for Prince's Jimi Hendrix sessions. A fairly obvious choice, maybe someone has a better Idea.

Not like it would ever happen or anything!

James Brown would be cool. Or The Beatles. But I'd prefer Hendrix.

It would be a lot more interesting to hear him handle a collection of Joni tunes. He did a great version of A Case Of You. Would love to hear more. Couldn't be any worse than "la la la means i love you". Yuck!

I really don't care for "cover" songs that much but I'd bet $$ that Prince can take damn near any material and make it his own. I'd love to hear Prince work with some cover material.

I did not care for "Betca by Golly Wow", but the work he did on "When Will We Be Paid" was fantastic.

I was about to post this - I think that somewhere around that time NPGMC mentioned that he had recorded a full album of Hendrix songs (it was later presumed that Habibi was part of this, although this wasn't mentioned by NPGMC).

How about Revolution, Here Comes the Sun, and You've Got To Hide Your Love Away. So difficult covering the Beatles , their well-known songs are so perfect and well-known. It would be interesting to see if P was up to the challenge of making these songs his own, or adding an interesting touch or vibe to them.
