Prince's next project out August 29th: Tamar Davis' album Milk & Honey (formerly BL&B) - updated release date

In an attempt to have this news seen by more people, I'm thanking luv2luvya for posting this info on the Associated Artists section, and moving it here where more people will see it:

http://www.tamaronline.com/ features a sample of Holla & Shout from Tamar's (now apparently named Tamar Davis) album Milk & Honey, released on August 29th. Yes, both her name and the name of the album have changed... and the date just gets later and later...

www.myspace.com/tamardavis contains full-length streams of Beautiful Loved & Blessed (which you will have heard by now), Holla & Shout, and All Eye Want Is U (just posted).

:edit: Cuz' I am: Beautiful, loved and edited change release date in title (thanks to Tangerine17 and langebleu)

Strange that her name has changed to Tamar Davies. Maybe a copyright problem? That might also be the reason why her album has been postponed.

i wouldnt consider it a "name change" all they did was add her last name, and i am willing to bet that was to lessen the confusion because so many people thought she was Tamar Braxton....her name is actually Támar (pronounced Tay-mar, not Tuh-mar like Tamar Braxton's name).

Holla & Shout is getting the thumbs down from me, despite the verses sounding rather like En Vogue's 'Hold On'.

Sounds very similar to "Love" just from the sounds of it. I'll reserve my judgment until I hear the whole thing.

My thoughts exactly. Bit of an embarassment all round, I reckon - see the picture with her 'Tamar' name and 'Davis' in smaller letters like a last-minute add-on

I actually quite like the snippet of the song, musically, though I don't think she's got a particularly good strong voice. There's a bit in the song that sounds exactly like a drum-fill from Love. I've wondered if Prince is going to be doing all the music for this project, seems very likely.

What's with Prince's 1990's style programming? Those "faux symphonic blasts" kinda make me cringe.

I don't know...

I do kinda miss New Jack Swing.

Teddy Riley is probably most under-rated cat in urban contemporary R&B history.

Jus' listen 2 "D-O-G Me Out" or "Teddy's Jam II".

Teddy was the most original (and funkiest) drum programmer in urban contemporary R&B history.

Funky, complex, swingin', and hard.

The only thing that comes close these days is Drum & Bass, which takes shortcuts, like speeding up older breaks.... essentially just using loops.

Teddy worked that shit, like I still do.

No shortcuts, no loops.

Peace.

G.

I just edited the title to make the thread clearer for newcomers (and hopefully prevent numerous threads on the same topic).

I hope that her album at least somewhat reflects what her live performances were like with P.

Yeah, the rapping is totally unnecessary.

I do have to agree with you here. She does have a beautiful voice...but it isn't very "strong". You would think with as much "training" as she has had musically, her voice would be alot stronger.

Wasn't expecting that from her. It's o.k. though. The remix will be hot. As it is, it's not all that current. A strong video will have to make that connection. Tamar's legs are diesel so they really should do the Beyonce thing. Beyonce and/or Sasha (for the reggae remix).

Isn't the milk and honey supposed to be flowing of something. Both hands should be honey (not so literal) let people fill in their own blanks. Milk hand isn't cutting it....looks more like a condition.
