Yes, I totally agree with you. "Emancipation" is my least favourate album. I love "For You".

This thread proves how subjective our opinions are. I can't even believe that anyone could prefer Disc 3 from Emancipation as the favorite. My favorite disc of that album is 2. It's nearly perfect. I dig half of disc 1 & half of disc 2. This should have been a 2 disc set. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

"Come" is regularly played on my stereo. I truly dig the groove he put out on this one.
It's "Chaos & Disorder" that gets the title "worst" 4 me. I dig about 3 of the songs on this one tho, so even the worst has some good in it. Hey, u can't please everyone. |

I agree, For You, is a great album. But are you serious? You think Emancipation is his worst album?? I have to disagree. Maybe Disc 3 is a little 'skippy' but 1 and especially 2 are great. Blue Cashmere Don't Play Me Yeah he loses me with some of the "dance" based material on disc three but one and two (and most of three) make it a top five Prince album for me. I think Come is a good album (apart from SOLO!) as is Grafitti Bridge (Bar the non-Prince tracks). SamBlueDolphin: Admittedly The Time didn't do their best work on Graffiti Bridge but "a crap band"? The easiest albums to decry are the Warner Bros contract fulfillers but what about Batman OST? That album lacks any true classic prince material IMO. Although I do like it overall...

There is a dark mood and vibe on that disc it's badass!!
a case of him still being a big star but not giving a shit about making hits(at that point anyway)a great album

"come" in its original form was awesome. the battle with warners prompted him to give them what they wanted... commercial crap.
the title track was ruined, "end. mach." was omited (and then later horribly reworked), as well as the long version of "interac." (which later was released on crystal ball), and "poem" was turned into meaningless drivel that totally disrupted the flow of the original album. it really is a shame. after the great after shows of acts 1 and 2, the orginal "come" cd would've made a great release. now, after being sacrificed in the battle with warners, it will be forgotten...

Take a look above, this album will not be forgotten. I love it to death! It helped me through one of the most wicked and evil periods of my life. It will always be special to me because of that. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

i sincerely hope you are right...
you take a look above (and in between). i praise the music on the album, but the commercial twist added in the editing stage ruined it for me. that doesn't mean that i don't dig the songs, i do. i think they are some of his best stuff from the 90's. peace, and keep it on the 1...

The albums was a bit drab on some songs (most notably Pheremone & Race), but as mentioned by many before, the love fest with WB did not help matters much...What was the original track listing for this supposed to be?
Related to COME: on the Letitgo maxi-single (I think track 5), the guitar work sounds somewhat similar to (the guitar work)on "Had U" from Chaos & Disorder. Is there any relation?

It seems a lot of people are hating on New Power Soul but I happen to think there are a few good tracks on the album- namely Come On, The One and the hidden track, Why Did I Waste My Kisses On You? Not his best work but by far not his worst IMHO.
I will say that when I first listened to Come, I was extremely disappointed and was wondering what in the heck was Prince thinking when he released that crap! Never let anyone put u in their little box...hell, u might start suffocating!

I'm shocked! The only songs that are in approximately the same league are the title track, Dark and Papa (for quirkiness). Letitgo, Space and Pheronemone areok, but kinda pedestrian...Loose is ok but conventional... "Condition" is too melodramatic..."Letitgo" is far more intimate and personal..."Raspberry Beret" is good, but no better than "Pheremone", and "Pheremone" has an edge to it that makes it stronger..."Tamborine" is definitely musical masturbation..."Papa" is too, kinda, but less "artsy"...(hate artsy shit)..."America" is "Baby I'm A Star" redone..."Pop Life" is a classic...and "Temptation" loses points for the overlong ending..."Come", however, has an ending that last juuust long enough... Condition of the heart is one of Prince's best "confessional" songs. I'm not surprised that people like Steve Vai name it as a reason for liking Prince. ATWIAD has many flaws, but it beats Come any day on overall creativity, despite the obvious Purple Rain rethreads. It's truly a classic Prince album even though it's no masterpiece.

Aero,
I love Prince's "artsy" music. Parade was fantastic as was ATWIAD. Condition of the heart is one of my all time favorite tracks. The piano, the harmony, the ache...what a great song. 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

think that the "Come" was a very creative album. Prince did alot expermentation on it. U can't front and say that u haven't shaked ur ass on the song "Loose", or that u haven't blushed on "Come". like the album. Hershey & , xoxo

My worst Prince album is Diamonds and Pearls. The production, the bad rapping, TONY M and I also don't like Rosie's voice. This incarnation of the NPG was his worst backing band ever. O+> is better because there are some great songs, although the production isn't very good either. I don't dislike NPS, I think the titletrack is very funky! And I also like When U love somebody, Shoobedoo and Push it up. But I don't like The One... Around the world in a day is great from beginning to end. There's not one crappy song on it, something which you can't say for many Prince albums. And apart from I rock therefore I am, C&D isn't that bad.

Why is everyone dissing New Power Soul?? Of course, every man to his own, but its not a bad record. "Come On" is nasssty funky, "Until You're In My Arms Again" is totally heartfelt, "Wasted Kisses" (?) -- brilliant! (You know, I always wondered - is "Until You're In My Arms..." about the death of his child? The lyrics really work on that level...) The only weak tracks I could concede are "The One" and "Mad Sex" -- both a little bit on the "throwaway" side. But as a whole, NPS was a big improvement over the previous Prince record, The Gold Experience.
Then again, there are so many -- was Gold Experience the "official" one before NPS? Eek -- its too late and there are just too many damn releases! Lets face the sh** -- they're all heads and tails above pretty much everything else in the wrecka-sto... kev

The Come album is one of the most cutting edge Prince album to date. It was the hatred by the media and record company blackballing that influenced people to think the album was bad. The Come album is FUNKY. By the way the song Joy In Repetition can fit on any Prince album in any time era. The song is timeless. Props to all the real Prince music loving fans.
The worst Prince album is Chaos and Disorder. Two or three gems but the rest is definetly throw away. Props to OrganGrinder. __________________________________________________
