Least favorite would be New Power Soul. cracknbush

I think ONA is his worst effort. There isn't another Prince album where I dislike so many of the songs. Interesting that it follows TRC, an album I regard as one of Prince's best.
GBridge has it's highs and lows. The fact that it has a select few amazing songs (Question of U, We Can Funk, Joy in Repitition) makes it hard to criticize. Come is interesting because I never think of it as being bad although save "Papa" nothing stands out as a song I just need to listen to. It seems more consistent than NPS and Rave...not as many bad songs IMO, but not as many good songs either. I'll take The One, Come On, and Wasted Kisses over most of the songs on Come. Some of the lesser songs on NPS though like Until Your in My Arms Again or that Doug E. Fresh Song are worse than anything on Come. Same with Rave vs. Come in my opinion as well.

Joy in Repetition & Release it sound dated to you?? 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I think the Come album is great. Although I believe he ruined the title cut, the first version I heard was TOO FUNKY and didn't have the slurping and sucking noises. Space is beautiful, Pheremone is off the hook, and MY SONG is RACE totally underrated Prince classic. My vote for the worst album is New Power Soul, I couldn't believe it when I first heard it, such paint by number, heartless, simple music. I do like Come On and The One, but that's about it. And Freaks on this Side IMO is the worst song he's ever done.

I would qualify GB as the worst ONLY because of the non P trax on it. Joy in Repetition is so out of place on it. I LOVE all the P tracks (except the title track-YUCK!!) 2010: Healing the Wounds of the Past.... http://prince.org/msg/8/325740

I still hold a place for GB.
- New Power Generation (kinda the NPG Anthem), - We Can Funk (many feel the original was better, but I think that once George peed on it, it wreaked of big stinky, hold your nose FUNK!.. I love the way he freaks out at the end.. - Joy In Repetition.. Prince at his best. - Question of U. Gritty Santanaese Prince. - Elephants & Flowers.. Once again, spirituality meets sexuality as only Prince can do it. Would have loved to see this live at the Celebration. - Still Would Stand All Time - Uplifting, Prince does Godspell... I love listening to "Small Club" to bear witness to the song in puberty... I won't throw this one out... cracknbush

Alright... Without a doubt, the 0(+> album is the weakest, most derivative (of his own work and radio drivel), and most un-listenable as a whole. (And I loved it and listened to it 'til I cried..)
Come is under-rated. He tried a few things (Loose) which didn't hit the mark for me, but all in all, it is far more rewarding than 0(+>, and up there with the best. I mean, just "Come" alone is like a mini-album unto itself! Still gives me chills - My 2 cents- and my first post! kev

Come is a FANTASTIC album. Its like one song that modulates for an hour. I love every song on it. Space, Letitgo, Solo (YES SOLO), I mean they are all so soulful. And lets not mention the title track! 11 minutes of PURE genius at 9:01 the ultimate musical orgasm begins it just builds and builds and right into the fantastic ending that just flows into exstacy. I LOVE LOVE LOVE this album. If you dont like you simply havent opened ure mind and listened to the man through the music. Blows my mind! My 2 cents- and my first post! To me, the symbol CD is very funky, as good as it gets for Prince in the 90's. I'm always amazed by the diversity of opinions on his work, but almost everyone agrees that Chaos&Disorder is hard to love. "When they tell me 2 walk a straight line, I put on crooked shoes"

The fact of the matter is that everyone holds a different opinion about Prince's albums and their strengths and weaknesses. We all hold different perspectives and I like it that way. Of late, it seems that there have been several attempts to reach a concensus about which Prince albums are the best and/or worst. I think this is fruitless. Personally, "New Power Soul" is my least favorite album, but I like to hear the few brave souls who love it. After all, all of these albums have been released by an artist who at least at one point captivated us all. Subsequently, there will always be someone who holds a certain album dear, despite popular disdain. "Rave Un2 the Joy Fantastic" is among my top 10 Prince albums, but it seems to be a crime around here to revere that album as any more than mediocre.

NOT!! There r no Albums or songs, or art, even he himself.
Nothing is worse in Prince's Catalogue, It's all Good! I have no favorites, except 4 everything he has ever done. I look at each peice of his art differently. Prince once said, Around the World in a Day was his letter 2 his fams, 4 being there 4 him with all the suppot, and all the love they have givin and showed 2 him over the years. 4 i am the girl on the see saw, who's laughing 4 love. Put me down for New Power Soul as the worst. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think that Prince could put together such a boring & uninspired piece of crap.

TheMax said: Sad to see Graffiti Bridge mentioned here. Any CD that has the brilliance of "We Can Funk" and "Joy in Repetition" can't be that bad. ___ - Well, if you take 4 or 5 songs of 20...there is not much...specially because EVERY Prince album has at least 2 or 3 great songs. GB had some VERY embarassing moments like ´NPG´, ´Melody Cool´, ´Tick tick Bang´ and The time songs...very weak album as a whole.

Come is the album that got me back into Prince!!! I could do without the entire 1989-1992 catalog where Prince started writing derivative crap. Come reminded me what a great singer prince was. No concessions to make a hit, no overproduction. Just prince and a tight little band making good music. Space is one of his most underrated ballads, Loose! is totally wild and Papa is frightening and funky at the same time.

xtruex I could not have said it better myself. Gold is OOP, but you can still buy this crap cd?? Come On is the only decent track, how ironic that its called COME ON!!! as in... Give me a break. The beginning of the end ---------------------------------

I don't know 4 a fact, but that comment just aged U by suggesting U R all about beats and bass and not about songwriting and sonic soundscapes. By God, yes, I did say that! No, no, no...it wasn't suggesting anything other than I prefer "Come" over "Around The World In A Day". I do too..."Come", for me, is a better album than ATWIAD...I just wish it didn't end with "Orgasm"...(I bet a LOT of women have said the same thing, but for different reasons...heh) You guys pick Come over ATWIAD, despite the fact the latter contains Condition of the heart, Raspberry Beret, Tambourine, America, Pop Life AND Temptation? I'm shocked! The only songs that are in approximately the same league are the title track, Dark and Papa (for quirkiness). Letitgo, Space and Pheronemone areok, but kinda pedestrian...Loose is ok but conventional...

Letitgo, Space and Pheronemone areok, but kinda pedestrian...Loose is ok but conventional... "Condition" is too melodramatic..."Letitgo" is far more intimate and personal..."Raspberry Beret" is good, but no better than "Pheremone", and "Pheremone" has an edge to it that makes it stronger..."Tamborine" is definitely musical masturbation..."Papa" is too, kinda, but less "artsy"...(hate artsy shit)..."America" is "Baby I'm A Star" redone..."Pop Life" is a classic...and "Temptation" loses points for the overlong ending..."Come", however, has an ending that last juuust long enough...

I've hardly listened to NPS. It was a disappointment after the whole L4OA vibe. In chats and e-mails and interviews and essays, Prince was all about spirituality... so NPS was a big letdown when many of us were ready for Lovesexy Part 2 or something even better, if that were possible.

The one thing I really dig about NPS is it's a direct reflection of the songs he'd been trying out and fine tuning at Paisley Parties that year. I was traveling when it came out (without a discman-doh!) and I had to wait a month to hear it...All I cared about was that the "funky piano track" was on it...well Mad Sex was there and it was initially a great reminder of a year full of near weekly late-nite jams. Of course, then I came back to earth and discovered that "Freaks..." was quite possibly the worst thing he's ever done, a song that makes me more unnerved than finding beef in my bean burrito...truly horrible stuff. Also, with the benefit of hindsight, this was when Larry started taking over the world of Prince. It was fun at the time, but in retrospect is a sad moment for the P-music I enjoy... Come, I'll always defend, it's coherent and has a great flow. With the exception of the quasi-techno "Loose" I still dig all the tracks on the album...

"Come" does not deserve the bad reputation it's got. It's an unearned reputation, I think.
How could any album be worse than either "Chaos & Disorder" or "NPS"?!!? Those wre both scary bad. Other than the first three tracks of "Chaos & Disorder" and MAYBE one song on "NPS", they were the nadir of Prince's career. "NPS" really frightened be to the bone thinking that he would never come out of that nose dive. But, with "The Rainbow Children" he really has (other than the silly voiceovers, the music is impressive.) [This message was edited Tue Jul 23 22:46:34 PDT 2002 by brianr54]

Where in the hell do you detractors come from? There is not one album by Prince that you can say is bad or worse! Every album has plenty to offer mankind, if not the individual. If he or she only listens, he or she will find that Prince has written something just for them. "Joy in Repetition", "Papa", "Soft and Wet", "The One Song", "The Work Part One", "Lets Go Crazy", "Adore", "The Cross", "Positivity", "Still Would Stand All Time, "The Truth", "We March", and "Pink Casmere, just to name a few. C'mon! What the hell is wrong with this world???
