Only one purple ticket winner was from the retail CD

Yes outta all the 25winners(plus thier dates) only one came from the
CD.

One of the winners on HQ said the universal rep told him that only one winner
got the ticket thru retial CD

Statistically only 3-4 ppl had a chance to win thru the retail CD that means
75% of the ppl who got the ticket thru the CD didnt realise they had won!

That, or the tickets are still inside albums on shelves. Imagine the disappointment of someone finding it now!

On some level this does NOT seem "fair" to the people who really support Prince.

i know that in the netherlands each cd had a special code
instead of a "purple ticket", you had to enter the code on
an online site and one winner would be picked from those.

so i guess that's the same way as finding a ticket.
and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Supposedly, 25 winners (plus a guest each) - it's already happened last week. Prince played in front of a packed house of winners, celebrities, and industry hangers-on.

This promotional idea was really bad now that I think about it-it would have been better to give a performance for let's say the first amount of people who bought his CD or another idea like it. The purple ticket thing really disappointed alot of his fans. It's just my opinion wink .

Huh, not quite sure how that would work as a promotional tool. If you mean something like people who buy first x amount of cds sold go to the party, well

1) I can't imagine the logisitcs of trying to keep track of who bought what when nationwide.

2) It's a great promotion for the first 5 minutes of the morning of the CD release, after that it's worthless.

Well, it was just a thought, but anything would have been better than the promotion that did happen. P.S. Love your avatar wink razz wink .

It could become the new holy grail in the collecting world. But, unless someone knows what a real one looks like, it may be a problem...

Fair? This is what I mean. There are certain people like the one's on the Org who have ALWAYS supported Prince. Most of the orgers are NOT casual Prince fans. In my book, Only REAL so called fans should have a chance to see Prince in a contest like this. You know, the ones that have spent $1000's of dollars on Prince related material over the years. Some guy who could care less about Prince should not be at a show like this. Just my 2 cents.

I agree with you. Unfortunately, it doesn't surprise me. I had no reason to think only hardcore fans would win, so I'm not bitter.
