TLC and Prince

Although I noticed it on the first listening, it has bothered me for quite a while now... the resemblance of Life 'o' the Party and TLC's Girl Talk. The distinct melody aside, doesn't he even try to rap like the late Left Eye?

I know that TLC made a cover of Prince's If I was your girlfriend, so is this some kind of way of showing tribute?

What are your thoughts/exlanations? biggrin

I know he was a fan, but I haven't heard that TLC track, so I dunno.

TLC also covered "Get It Up," which was written by Prince for The Time.

Their CrazySexyCool album also contained an (admittedly very good) version of If I Was Your Girlfriend.
Prince made reference to wanting Dallas Austin as the co-producer of his next album back at one of the Paisley parties in September 1995.....evidently not the way it planned out. smile
His Late Show performance in 96 closed with the lines "Free TLC" (as they were in a wrangle with their record comapny at the time), and he announced thie performance at the MTV awards in 99 as "his favourite band".

He also attended the funeral service for "Left Eye" in May 2002 - all in all, I'd say he was a big fan of the girls work.

My friend was at PP one night and she saw Prince walk by with Chili. She said Chili looked taller than Prince and he was wearing heels.

Has anyone thought that Chili and Ananda Lewis really look alike?

I remember reading Left Eye was a huge fan of Prince and once he took his tour bus to her street on her birthday. I remeber when she died he placed a message on his website sending his condolences to her family.
I bet they have some stuff in Prince's Vault

Same skin color/shade & hair color, but not exactly alike.
