"Kiss" WAS performed on American Idol May 2nd 5/1: Possible song spoilers

Tunstall’s myspace Web site, Kat will be doing “Black Horse and the Cherry Tree,” a top 10 hit on the hot AC chart. I saw Tunstall in concert recently and she is amazing! Her single is now a fixture on Dave FM and Star 94. I actually said I thought Kat could do a great job with this song in my blog a couple days ago. For folks unfamiliar with her, she’s a wonderful 30-year-old U.K. artist with thoughtful, smart lyrics and an attractive, mildly edgy mien. MJ’s Idol blog says Taylor might tackle Bon Jovi’s no. 1 country single “Who Says You Can’t Go Home,” a wonderful tune aided and abetted by our very own Jennifer Nettles. For you trivia buffs, this is apparently the first rock group to ever land at the top of the country chart. MJ also said that Paris is doing Prince’s “Kiss,” which actually came out in 1986, two years before Paris was born. But the loophole is that Tom Jones and Art of Noise did a lovely remake of the song in 1988. (I remember it well!)

I've never watched American Idol - how do the contestants pick the songs they perform? Are they restricted to a timeperiod? | |

I've never watched American Idol - how do the contestants pick the songs they perform? Are they restricted to a timeperiod? yes, usually there is some kind of theme. althought I think they had a free pick for their first song last night. their second song had to be a recent billboard hit "not a fan"  yeah...ok | |

I watched it. The idols were supposed to pick a song in the year they were born. Paris was born in 1988, Kiss was out in 1986....go figure. |

The song was.....ok, i guess. Ha, lemme stop lyin'. That song was bad coming from her mouth. I'm sorry but no one can sing Kiss like Prince. Its like someone trying to sing a popular Mariah Carey song, no one can sing it like her. it dont mean Ure wrecked jus cause me tallywackin sucking is all U want. all it means is that the one that come b4 me never made U come. | |

Yup. It's hard singing a song from an artist that's so popular, because everyone is comparing it that artist.I think Kiss is a hard song to sing. I don't think I ever heard a good live version from prince. I guess it's just one of those songs that can only be captured in the studio. |

Did anyone hear on Donnie Simpson's customary recap this morning, they were discussing the show and mentioned Paris singing Kiss... "Donnie, you would have been mad, 'cause I know you love that song...she didn't even sing it it key!"
