Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!

He hasnt really got an album that has heaps of guitar, perhaps he can make a complimation of rock tunes on album, or with our computers now, we can mix and match Prince songs to our pleasure, I have a 150 song Prince mix playing now.

Still closest is Purple Rain, theres a whole lot of guitar there, but theres some good funk and bass guitar on Dirty Mind and Controversy. Gold Experience and some of the acoustic cuts on Musicology do it too. But the best guitar songs are on Diamonds and Pearls, these are Thunder and Live for Love. The last song has passages that give me goosebumps.

the best guitar playing by prince is on these aLBUMS
the rainbow children
purple rain
one nite alone live
crystall ball cd 2
but one thing is for sure,he was never consistent enough to make album full of guitar leads.
maybe he is affraid if black community will dismissed it.
you know jimi hendrix mostly had white fans which is strange because black people invented rock'n'roll.
chaos and disorder have guitar all over the place but for some strange reason,it dont rock at all.lead guitar there is very weak except for" i will"

There WAS an official CD release. Whether or not that classifies it as an album, I'm not sure.

purple rain isnt real rock but its the closest as the rock album.
he affraids of the thought that if he plays more guitar he will lose black audiance.
that is the explanation why he dedicated a lot of his studio time to rapand hip hop instead of guitar playing.

'Ya gotta check out his second album, 'Prince'. It contains his two best guitar cuts, in my opinion: "Why U Wanna Treat Me So Bad" and "Bambi".

It's an official promo. Kind of an interesting back-story that goes with it - there's bound to be a thread or three about it.

- Agreed. I would love to see Prince doing a great rock album, with no keyboards and maybe some classic rock covers (like he did on Led Zep´s ´Whole lotta love´ and Hendrix ´´Purple House´).

Ok, he did the Undertaker....but I can´t love it much. For me it was a little ´over the top´ and I didnt like the guitar sound of it. Some solos weren´t that great IMO. Ok, an Undertaker with a little more production would be great.

his best guitar work is probably live.

As a whole album, it would be either TGX or C&D.

As an unreleased album, the Undertaker by a mile!!
It's goin' down y'all.

Just for the record... The Undertaker was officially pressed up on CD, but it
was never actually released. So you could say that it IS official, but has never
been officially released. Some of the CDs did escape though, so it is possible
to get hold of the official CD (but be prepared to pay for it, as it's pretty
rare).

I dont think he's really made one yet either and that is a crying shame, cos lets face it when plays live, he's untouchable. I'd love to hear an whole LP with quality tracks like Let's Go Crazy and The Ride but it'll prob never happen.
