Black Sweat...ear peircing?? This is what confirms a P album/song is great for me.
I was chatting to a friend whom i asked if they had heard any of the latest P stuff. His reply was "Yes i heard a song...it was a bit ear peircing." I aksed him if it hurt.

Ask him to wear headphones while that song is on...I still LOVE it! I think it was GIRLS AND BOYS that got the same reaction from one of my friends while he was riding in my car. Thanks for the laughs, arguments and overall enjoyment for the last umpteen years. It's time for me to retire from Prince.org and engage in the real world...lol. Above all, I appreciated the talent Prince. You were one of a kind.

It's that irritating high pitch sound that was used in a lot of west coast hip hop.
That sound is not only annoying, but out of date.

That sound is not only annoying, but out of date. it was cool when he used it on tracks like 18 & Over but now it just sounds out of place. they should have put that sound on the 'chorus' more to the front and dropped this one back a bit further into the mix. and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

I love all kinds of high wheezes, but I don't think either that this one works to the benefit of the track. Hell, I would have loved it if it would have been still an octave HIGHER, but as it is it's just somewhat boring. There's a more interesting variation of it towards the end though (it should have been like that even in the beginning). Prince just doesn't know how to correctly handle experimental electronic elements in his music, but I'm not blaming him for that.
