In '82-83. I remember hearing 1999 on the radio and they said something about Prince being from Minnesota. Being from MN myself, transplanted to Cali, I wanted to check out his music so I went to the local library and checked out the 1999 LP and have been hooked ever since. I still remember holding up my little tape recorder to the stereo speakers to make a copy because at 11 yrs old I didn't have enough $ to buy it. I wore that tape out until I got the real thing for my birthday a few years later.

I started listening to Prince early eighties. Purple Rain got me on board. I then went on a spending spree starting from his fist album...until my collection was up to date.

I knew of Prince and his hits since around 1995, when I was 8, but didn't really start getting into him until about 2002.
