Ultimate Prince sounds incredibly fresh, worth the price

I aquired Rhino Records' Ultimate Prince, and man does it sound great! I have been a huge prince fan since 1983, but I must admit Prince is a moron. If he let WB re-release his material remastered, EVERY Prince would purchase a new copy of every record.Rhino did an incredible job remastering the songs, with out changing them in any way.

I love the fact the they included th 12" mixes as well, a real treat.

This album is a must have!

Strange, I don't think they sound remastered at all. They sound great, but so does a good vinyl transfer. It helps that they are sound balanced, and its certainly getting plenty of spins in the car.

I just can't stand the fact that they stuck the pathetic Sheila E remix of Pop life on there, instead of the full version. It is a truely amateur remix. I've heard fan mixes ten times better.

Yeah, I don't think they sound re-mastered either. They sound great, but not mind-blowing. The "Cream" remix is the real weak spot on the second disc, imo. I have to say tha I like the Pop Life remix.

If remastering means just turning up the volume, then they were definately remasterd. shrug

The versons on 'Ultimate" are the best I've heard on this material .
The thing to remember is, that Prince's material is not audiophile recordings. There's a limit to how good they'll ever sound

I guess I must have a different definition of remaster than you guys. I like the vinyl versions better and they do not sound remastered to me. Sounds like they "normalized" them and made it a hotter mix. I guess my hearing is going...

I've had this "Ultimate Prince" in my collection for several weeks now. Had no idea that I owned such a rare double CD. My favorite cut is the "Thieves In The Temple" remix (never heard it before). Great job on the remastery as well.

Ive Heard a few tracks..they dont sound reasterd
And Y in the hell is 'Craem mix' & The sheila e remix of pop life on it

Wheres Love or money(ex vers) , Pailey Park (Ex Vers), Anotherlover(Ex Vers)
I know they werent his bigest hits...
But they Put..shes always in my hair..A Great song...but it wasnt a hit
Its a b side

Hopfuly there might be some kind of Ultimate 2 compolation.
Some 1 out there at "WB/Rhino" knows we wanted all thes Ex, long Vers on cd
Looks like there gonna milk us for all the songs we want.... mad

If was a double cd of all the Ex b sides , and others [thats never been on cd]
It would be worth listing..as an album...Part of his colection..
but to me its a compolation with a few rare track
Love Life,
Love God,
And Only Do Drugs You Need
smoker

I wish it had more 12" sides and not the excat same hits, but you can't have everything. I like it.

I still think the hits box set was very classy and definitely a great collection of the hits and b-sides. I hope everything 12" and b's are released someday on cd.
