Not sure what Your Question Is?
Theres No Opening segue on The Black Album

The Lyrics....

So U found me
Good, I'm glad
This is Prince
The cool of cools
Some of U may not know this
But some of U may know
Some of U may not want 2 know
We r here 2 do service
Please don't try 2 stop us
4 we come regardless
4 we r strong as we r intelligent
So come vibe with us
Welcome to the Funk Bible
The new testament.....

Is part Of Le Grind
But if im guessing what your question is...
That Daialoge...is Very Hard To hear On The opening Of Le Grind
Kinda Hidden
If You Dont listen Close u might not ever notice
Love Life,
Love God,
And Only Do Drugs You Need
smoker

As long as I've loved this song, I never really paid attention to that opening segue. My first time sitting down to actually read the lyrics with the music.

Nice find.

cool

"The cool of cools."
Ooh, little darlin' if you're
free 4 a couple of hours (Free 4 a couple of hours)
If U ain't busy 4 the next 7 years (Next 7 years)
Say, let's pretend we're married and go all night

Did anyone ever definitively determine who "Frankie" is in "Serve it up Frankie!"

I was always convinced it was like an "alter ego" for Sheila..... especially since on a LoveSexy song they say "Serve it up Sheila".

About the 'serve it up, frankie' i read a comment from a music journalist, saying that it was kind of Princes way at saying to Frank Zappa, look as how good i am as an arranger knowadays!

Prince used the line on Lovesexy also. And quite a lot of journalist compared the mastery of musical arrangements on that album to the arranging qualities of Frank Zappa.

I'd love a BLACK ALBUM II ...without the negative lyrics.

That's the kinda funk I was hoping for on 3121.

Hmmmmm. it's possible about Frank Zappa.... but I still like my theory re: Sheila.

First, the Black album is hardly "arranged" as that usually means....rather it's stripped down, raw funk.

I"m pretty sure Sheila plays drums throughout TBA (although they said he wrote the songs for her birthday party, so how did she play on the tracks??)

Plus, check it:

1. On Le Grind, they say "Servie it up Frankie".

2. Then on the next track Cindy C they say "Serve it Up Sheila".

3. THe opening to 2 Nigs they say "Serve it Up Frankie" again, which cues the kick drum. (and I'm pretty sure Sheila inspired or co-wrote this song).

So it seems like it's that era's way of givin' props to/calling out to the drummer (e.g. like on Mountains "Bobby our drummah!" or whatever they say.

And Sheila was the drummer..... so I think ti's like her alter ego, or an in joke of some kind. (and remember on ATWIAD cover there is that red-haired woman in the black lace outfit but with a mustache, the most people agree is Sheila).
